About DCA
DCA has been present in Afghanistan since 1988, focusing its interventions to herders and pastoralists communities’ resilience and enabling them to achieve long-term, inclusive and equitable development. DCA is currently implementing several livestock development and humanitarian programs in 29 Provinces of Afghanistan. In 2023, we were able to benefit more than half million vulnerable Afghans in building their resilience.

Project background:
Trafficking in Persons (TIP) and Smuggling of Migrants (SOM) require immediate, medium-term, and long-term responses to ensure the protection of victims and vulnerable migrants. With this additional funding, UNODC will coordinate with its partners, including the Dutch Committee for Afghanistan (DCA) in Kandahar and Helmand provinces, to address some of the root causes of human trafficking and migrant smuggling. DCA's response mainly focuses on improving livelihoods through agricultural interventions and raising awareness to reduce the fundamental causes of vulnerability. Approximately 130 women-led households will receive milking sheep/goats (2 per household) and training, while 2,305 farming households (women and men) will receive training and awareness sessions through DCA staff. This will help reduce escalating food insecurity, price increases, and the growth of poppy production, and reduce vulnerability to human trafficking and migrant smuggling.
Project Outcome:
Enhanced access to income generation and best practices to counter TIP and SOM among 2,305 farming households benefiting 16,135 individuals in Kandahar and Helmand provinces.
General Position Summary:
The Counter TIP and SOM Trainer are responsible for the promotion and maintenance of training materials, on counter-trafficking and smuggling, and rearing the milking Goats. Conduct training and awareness sessions to increase awareness of the beneficiaries on indemnities of trafficking and smuggling at the targeted districts of Helmand and Kandahar provinces. Be responsible for the design and development of training and other extension materials. Survey and selection of the beneficiaries to receive milking Goat, enhance the capacity of the beneficiaries on rearing and management of the milking Goats. Reporting the progress on training-related activities to the project manager and other team members on time. Have experience working with the community specifically in the project targeted areas and willing to regularly travel to all targeted districts. Coordination and assist the project manager and other project team members for successful and efficient completion of the project.
