About Future Generations Afghanistan:

Future Generations (FG) is the collective name for an international network of non-governmental organizations including FG Country Programs in Asia and Africa, Future Generations University (FGU) and its alumni in 17 countries, academia, and individual’s experts. The original charitable organization, Future Generations, was established in 1992 for the purpose of learning from, and building upon the world’s most successful examples of community empowerment and social change. It is complemented by the Future Generations Graduate School (Future Generations University) in 2006 in the State of West Virginia with authorization to provide a Master's Degree in Applied Community Change focus on Conservation and Peace building.  The Future Generations Afghanistan (FGA) established in May 2002 and obtained its registration certificate from Ministry of Economy, Government of Afghanistan in October 2005.  Since 2007, FGA has been operational in Eastern Afghanistan, and successfully completed development and humanitarian programs in Nangarhar, Laghman , Kunar, Nuristan, Logar, Wardak, Nimruz, Herat, Bamian, Kanadahar and Badghis Provinces

Job Descriptions:

Responsible for Survey, Design, Estimation and implementation of construction projects. Specifically he/she will be responsible for construction of necessary ponds and small water retaining structures, protection walls, gabion walls and irrigation canal cleaning. Conduct the site survey, technical survey, design and implementation of any type of low cost irrigation conservation project in close coordination with project Manager.

Job Requirements:

  • Prepare /review building designs including drawings, specifications, and Bill of Quantities and ensure International Standards/Norms for QA, QC and safety.
  • Preparation of tender documents for procuring services and works related to infrastructures
  • Provides regular reports and presentations to Senior Management and Client Personnel as needed
  • In liaison with the procurement team prepare and assist in the preparation of the TOR, bidding documents, requests for proposals/quotations, bid evaluation reports for procurement of civil works, goods and technical assistance services.
  • Prepare operations and maintenance program of the infrastructure projects.
  • Ensure that environmental mitigation measures are implemented as part of the infrastructure
  • Detailed design of rehabilitation and up-grading of the irrigation, water supply, associated structures (new and existing), flood protection works and other engineering infrastructure.
  • Prepare/compile periodic progress reports in consultation with field coordinator as per the standard format and deliver to Supervisor for further review.
  • Ensure designs/deliverables are compliant with scope of work and contract requirement
  • Visit proposed project site to obtain necessary information for use in creating project specification. This include condition and location of project site, location of storage and staging areas, and character and scope of work
  • Managing projects technical issues and liaising with regulators and client contacts
  • Assisting with environmental assessments and resource management projects.
  • Promote smooth work relationship at regional level, counterpart staff and other relevant bodies and report to direct supervisor periodically.
  • Ensure designs/deliverables are compliant with scope of work and contract requirements
  • Provide construction supervision, Quality Assurance, and quality control.
  • Travel to the sites for site assessment.
  • Supervision of contracts and construction works
  • Carryout regular supervision at field level to ensure full compliance of technical, social, and environmental aspects during implementation
  • Monthly based monitoring  of  SPs for economic aspects  and allocated  budget when they are  executing
  • Provided BOQ during subprojects changes within allocated budget for projects

Qualification:

  • Responsible for completion of discipline engineering project elements such as reports, designs, specifications and plans
  • Excellent interpersonal communications and coordination skills and proven ability to work constructively with a variety of stake holders to achieve common goals
  • Good computer skills including MS Office Package, Civil 3D, Auto CAD and other design software
  • Excellent knowledge of English and local languages, both spoken and written skills
  • Demonstrated ability to multi-task and process information into action to not delay program activities.
  • Should have the ability to have frequent travels to all project’s targeted areas.
