YHDO is a non-governmental and non-for-profit organization established in 2009, registered with ministry of economy in Afghanistan. YHDO works with interdisciplinary professionals to develop and implement innovative, culturally appropriate, evidence based intervention

Job Descriptions:

Specific Responsibilities:

  • Conduct assessments to understand the psychosocial needs of children’s and families.
  • Develop tailored psychosocial support plans to meet the specific needs of children’s and families.
  • Elicits trauma related histories according to presenting symptoms
  • Assist in developing IEC materials regarding children’s mental wellbeing
  • Prepare plan and conduct a regular follow up of abuse/exploitation cases registered
  • Provide individual and/or group psychosocial support services utilizing appropriate YHDO policies, and protocols and international guidelines for the CSCs’ children victims of human rights violations.
  • Promote coping strategies and emotional resilience in individuals experiencing stress or trauma for children’s need regular counselling session accordingly.
  • Organize training session on stress management and other related issues for the provincial staff
  • Keep daily accurate case record in a confidential and safe manner in hard and soft forms.
  • Prepare daily, weekly, and monthly evaluation report of psychosocial interventions and report on key outcomes to the direct supervisor
  • Referral of children to external structures if needed and agreed with project management.
  • Ensure high quality of psychosocial services within the child support centers (CSCs).
  • Perform any other tasks in line with the job description and assigned by direct supervisor
  • Engage with community leaders, families, and other stakeholders to raise awareness about mental health and psychosocial well-being.

Job Requirements:

Skills and Qualifications Required:

  • University degree in psychology or social services 
  • Experience working on providing PSS support services for survivors of violence at least 3-5 years
  • Experience working on children protection programs
  • Excellent knowledge about children’s mental health and child psychology
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to build trust with children.
  •  Excellent oral and writing skills in Pashto, Dari, and English language
  • Able to provide project progress reports on/before its due time and upon any further request by the immediate supervisor
  • Respect for confidentiality and a sense of security
  • Good organizational skills and ability to manage multiple cases at a time.
  • Cultural sensitivity and understanding of local cultural contexts related to mental health and trauma.

Proficiency in the local language and basic computer literacy
