Job Descriptions:

The Social Mobilizer will be responsible for engaging local communities in HHRO's Community Kitchen initiative, helping to foster community participation, and awareness. The Social Mobilizer will work closely with community leaders, project staff, and vulnerable groups to ensure the smooth operation of the project and the achievement of HHRO’s objectives in food security, social welfare, and resilience.

Key Responsibilities

  1. Community Engagement and Outreach
    • Conduct regular community visits to build trust, communicate project goals, and ensure participation of target households.
    • Identify and mobilize key community members and leaders to support project activities.
    • Facilitate meetings, awareness sessions, and group discussions based on project plan.
  2. Project Implementation Support
    • Collaborate with the project coordinator to establish and support 12 Community Kitchens across three districts, each catering to 25 households.
    • Coordinate the distribution of groceries and other resources to the community kitchens, ensuring transparency and accountability.
    • Help identify and prioritize vulnerable households for participation in the community kitchens.
  3. Data Collection and Reporting
    • Assist in gathering data on community needs, feedback, and project progress, maintaining accurate records for monitoring and evaluation.
    • Report on community feedback, challenges, and project impact to the Project Coordinator regularly.
  4. Capacity Building
    • Provide guidance and training to community members involved in the kitchens, focusing on food safety, hygiene, and efficient kitchen management.
  5. Conflict Resolution and Problem-Solving
    • Mediate and address any issues or conflicts within the community that may arise during project activities.
    • Work with community leaders and HHRO staff to resolve problems.

Job Requirements:

  • Education: Minimum high school diploma; a degree in social sciences or a related field is preferred.
  • Experience: At least 1-2 years of experience in community mobilization, social work, or a similar role, preferably in humanitarian or development projects.
  • Skills:
    • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse community members.
    • Fluency in local languages (Pashto, Dari) is essential; knowledge of English is an asset.
    • Ability to collect, organize, and report data accurately.
    • Familiarity with the social, economic, and cultural context of Helmand Province.
    • Willingness to travel within project areas and work in challenging environments.
