About Jhpiego:

Program Description:     The USAID funded Urban Health Initiative (UHI) Program’s goal is to improve health outcomes of people living in urban areas, particularly focusing on the health of women and children and other vulnerable populations. Interventions aim to increase demand, access and quality of health services. Lead by Jhpiego and implemented by a dynamic consortium of organizations, UHI is implemented in five cities in Afghanistan – Kabul, Herat, Mazar-e-Sharif, Jalalabad and Kandahar.

 

 

Job Descriptions:

Responsibilities:


• Management of complicated cases.
• Prescribe and ensure appropriate drugs and medical treatment.
• Perform major surgery for elective and emergency cases (C-section, Hysterectomy, tube ligation, ovarian
cystectomy, etc.).
• Follow up of pre-operative and post-operative cases.
• On-the-job training of joiner doctors and midwives.
• Health education to the women regarding their problems.
• Support on the provision of required ANC/PNC to high-risk pregnancies.
• Perform normal delivery and breech extraction if there is any difficulty.
• Accountable to the patient and have friendly behavior with the patient, companion and health facility staff
• Work within the hospital’s rules and regulations.
• Implement induced/augmented labor if needed.
• Participate in training and meetings as needed.
• Perform related administrative duties and ensure patients’ documentations are completed.
• Perform other duties directed by the supervisor and line manager.
• Ensure that all procedures related to infection prevention are followed correctly.
• Carry out ultrasound examinations as needed.
• Support the team in the implementation of Safe surgery program in the hospital

Job Requirements:

Qualification Required:
• Degree of MD and specialization in OBS/GYN approved by MoPH.
• Working experience as a specialist of 1-3 years in a hospital.
• English language skills. Computer skills are preferable.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
Abilities/Skills:
• Ability to work successfully in teams, across a diverse team in a complex environment with multiple tasks,
short deadlines
• Strong skills in facilitation, team building and coordination
