About Cure Hospital – Afghanistan:

Background

Curel Hospital is primarily a teaching hospital with services in family medicine, internal medicine, paediatrics, OBGYN, pathology, general surgery, plastic surgery and orthopaedics. The hospital provides quality, evidence-based care for all patients (whether private or regular, in-patient or out-patient).

The medical training programs currently running at the hospital include a 3-year residency program for family medicine, a 3-year residency program for pathology, a 1-year OBGYN fellowship program and a 2-year surgical fellowship program. The agreement with the MOPH is that doctors on completion of their training in these programs will be sent to other needy areas as specialist trainers and continue to provide quality patient care.

 

Purpose of the Position:

Responsible for the overall electricity, equipment maintenance and installation AC, major overhaul, repair AC and troubleshooting work involved with AC & electrical system.

Job Descriptions:

Essential Job Responsibilities Include, but are not limited to:

  • Installs, services and repairs AC lighting fixtures, electrical panels, outlets, wiring and etc.
  • Lays underground and in-walls conduits for electrical, telephone and IT networking lines.
  • Installs high and low voltage power / electrical cables, and wiring systems.
  • Installs conductors, splices cable, builds terminations and does necessary hook-up for primary power lines.
  • Assemble, install, test maintain AC, electrician and electronic wiring, equipment, appliances, apparatus, and fixture using hand tools and power tools.
  • Troubleshoot and repair all of the cure’s facilities machineries related to electronic section and ACs.
  • Diagnose malfunctioning systems, apparatus, and components, using test equipment and hand tools, to locate the cause of a breakdown and correct the problem.
  • Connect wires to circuit breakers, transformers, or other components.
  • Inspect electrical systems, equipment, and components to identify hazards, defects, and the need for adjustment or repair, and to ensure compliance with electric codes.
  • Plan layout and installation of electrical wiring, equipment and fixtures, based on the job specifications.
  • Starts and turn off the main power generator and heating boiler machine during winter on regular basis, and take proper records of the running hours.
  • Perform job management activities such as maintaining records and files, preparing reports and requesting supplies and equipment.
  • Provide assistance during emergencies or while needed to any other maintenance department.
  • Perform preventative and predictive maintenance on facilities machineries and equipments.
  • Operates power hand tools and other specialized electrical equipments.
  • Test and repair electrical based equipments.
  • Communication and coordination with other electricians and rest of maintenance staff for a smooth operation of the facilities machineries during the nights and in holidays.
  • Maintain and secure work tools and equipments, and keep the working area always clean and tidy.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

Required Competencies and Knowledge (Qualification)

  • A certificate of 2 years AC and electrical vocational training necessary. A first or higher degree preferred.
  • 5 years of experience as an AC/electrician with a construction firm, or maintenance sections with a NGO or any other similar agencies.
  • Three reference and not family or immediate family.
  • Committed, honest and trust worthy.
