About Afghan Amputee Bicyclists for Rehabilitation And Recreation (AABRAR):

AABRAR is a local Afghan non-government organization concerned with the rehabilitation and socioeconomic integration of disabled people and other vulnerable groups into the community.

Founded in 1992, AABRAR began a bicycle-training program for amputees to improve mobility and increase their independence, enabling them to travel to and from work, and save on transportations costs. Since then, AABRAR has expanded its activities  to  offer  a  range  of  services  to  vulnerable  people,  designing  special programs for women and children to address their needs. Programs include physiotherapy and health care, bicycle training, vocational trainings, numeracy and literacy classes, mine awareness, Education, health education, Livelihood, WASH and various sporting activities. AABRAR also works in the area of social development, helping to raise awareness of the rights of disabled people within Afghanistan and dispel negative attitudes towards disability.

AABRAR has widened its beneficiary classification to include other vulnerable groups such as widows, orphans, unemployed people, youth, ex-combatants, and street children, so as to reach those people most in need of assistance. Since 1992 AABRAR has helped over 15,000 people recover physically and emotionally from their injuries and increased their socioeconomic participation.

Job Descriptions:

  • Develop and deliver comprehensive training programs and materials specific to AABRAR's Community-Based Education (CBE) project, ensuring alignment with project goals and objectives.
  • Train project staff, partners, and beneficiaries in various aspects of CBE, focusing on content relevant to the curriculum and community engagement.
  • Conduct needs assessments to identify training gaps and tailor capacity-building efforts for AABRAR's CBE interventions.
  • Facilitate workshops, seminars, and on-the-job training sessions to enhance the skills and competencies of project participants.
  • Provide ongoing coaching and mentoring to CBE facilitators and teachers to improve the quality of education and support services.
  • Collaborate with project management to design and implement training evaluation mechanisms to assess the effectiveness of capacity-building initiatives.
  • Continuously update training materials and content to reflect best practices and address emerging needs within the AABRAR CBE project.
  • Monitor the performance and progress of trained individuals and teams, offering constructive feedback and guidance for improvement.
  • Maintain accurate records of training activities and participant achievements in line with the CBE project's monitoring and evaluation requirements.
  • Ensure that AABRAR's CBE project staff and partners adhere to established guidelines and standards related to education and training.
  • Any other assignments pertaining to the CBE project and AABRAR as directed by the CBE Project Manager.

Job Requirements:

  • Three Years of Experience in Education and Training Projects
  • Degree in behavioural and/or social sciences, Education, Economics and Sciences.
  • Field-based experience in community-based education.
  • Understanding of cultural diversity and cultural diversity competence
  • Have proficiency in computer programs, especially Microsoft office, Microsoft Excel and Microsoft power point.
