How can you make a difference? 

Purpose for the job

The incumbent will work under the overall supervision of the IM Officer NOB, in close collaboration with the IM Specialist Health Section. This position is based in the Afghanistan Country Office in Kabul, Afghanistan, with frequent travel to the field. The Information Management Officer will support the UNICEF Health section in the humanitarian as well as sector programs (as defined in the annual rolling work plan) and will contribute to the provision of useful, valid, and reliable information.

Key functions, accountabilities, and related duties/tasks:

  • Extenders/Field Monitoring Analysis
  • Activities Mapping of UNICEF Health Sections
  • Data Analysis and Quality Assurance
  • GPS coordinates collection of UNICEF-supported HFs
  • Respond to data visualization
  • Partners Mapping
  • Sharepoint Page
  • Building Capacity of Zonal Offices Health Staff on IM products
  • Develop and maintain a supply monitoring data system

Minimum requirements:

  • A university degree in information management, computer sciences, social sciences, statistics, planning development, public health, or related fields.
  • A minimum of one year of relevant professional experience in program development and implementation, including monitoring and evaluation activities
  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergencies is considered an asset.
  • Experience in programming languages like Python, R, and SQL, is a must.
  • Strong Excel skills, PowerBI, and dashboards are required.
  • Experience and knowledge of reporting (requirements, modalities, and content) for international financial institutions (WB/ADB) and other donors (e.g. GAVI) projects is desirable.
  • Demonstrated experience and knowledge of setting up supply data and monitoring systems is essential.
  • Fluency in English is required. Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian, or Spanish) or a local language is an asset.

  • Developing country work experience and/or familiarity with emergency.
