Salam Afghanistan Media Organization (SAMO) is the parent organization of Salam Watandar (SW) Radio Kabul (98.9FM), Salam Watandar Radio Network, SAMO Research, Evaluations and Learning (REL) center, SW News Agency (www.swn.af), Professional Media and Communications Training Hub, and SAMO Professional Technical Workshop on Media and ICTs.    

Established in 2003, SAMO has been one of the nation’s leading media organizations operating in all provinces of Afghanistan through more than 100 partner stations reaching over 22 million people across the country.  The organization has undertaken various multi-media outreach, awareness, and advocacy collaborative partnerships to support the international partners of Afghanistan including UN agencies, international organizations, embassies, private sector and government media needs.   

SAMO’s Mission: 

SAMO is a multi-media platform that reaches out to Afghans, nationwide. The organization has a multi-pronged approach – i.e. radio, TV, print, and social media – to generate debates around issues of importance to the people of Afghanistan and stir debates/engagement around them so as to ensure citizens remain informed and make informed decisions on issues and matters which affect them.

The Dari Editor/Presenter plays a fundamental role in a media organization. The Dari Editor/Presenter is responsible for gathering news feeds and in consultation with the radio team, prepares edited material after careful evaluation for the radio/website in line with the organization's policy. The editor is tasked to evaluate content based on journalistic values and present fine material to listeners/readers for their information and education.

     Duties & Responsibilities:

• Editing radio programs/news.
• Translating news, and articles from Pashto to Dari & English to Dari.
• Editing and proofreading text produced by SW reporters for Radio/Online.
• Editing all text and writing it in an interesting and appealing manner.
• Produce educational programs for grass root level
• Presenting live news and news editing.
• capable of searching the internet and other sources for data.
• Coordination and consultation with the reporters for the preparation of radio/ online content.
• Ensure compliance with the organization's policy.
• Helping prepare work plan for reporters, and collaborating with them in implementation.
• Ensuring quality evaluation of the news and reports, and providing complete reports on them.
• Collaborating with the reporters in preparing news, reports, and research projects.
• Listening back to reports and news to report to higher management.
• Close collaboration with the reporters in preparing news, and reports and helping resolve issues they might face.
• Keeping the reporters up to date on current affairs and the latest news.
• Close cooperation with the department of Research Evaluation & Learning (REL)
• Presenting the news and programs on radio.
• Executing additional tasks given by the chief editor.
• Carry out any other tasks and duties as assigned by the supervisor.

• Graduated from Journalism faculty, Dari Literature or a relevant field.
• Proficiency in written and spoken Dari, and Pashto, and Good Command of English.
• Produce educational programs for grass root level.
• Presenting live news and news editing.
• Minimum of 5 Years of Professional Experience.
• Must be familiar with Cool Edit and Adobe Audition programs.
• Must be able to produce a radio program.
• Must be able to present live programs.
• Must cooperate with other programs of Salam Watandar when needed.
• Capable of searching the internet and other sources for data.
• Must be able to translate text from Pashto to Dari and English to Dari.
• Able to alter their style of writing to reflect their audience.
• Able to multitask and prioritize work schedules.
• Computer literate and possess good typing skills.
• Able to simplify and explain complex issues and procedures.
• Able to work on their own or in a team
• Able to work to tight deadlines.
• Easy going and easy to get along with.
• Critical thinking, professionalism, dependability, good work ethic.
