Afghan Institute of Learning (AIL) is a non-governmental, non-political, non-profit, and women-led organization (NGO) that was established in 1995 by "Dr. Sakena Yacoobi" to provide education, and health services to Afghans in order to foster self-reliance, and community participation.
Everything we do is interconnected because people need good health to learn and work and quality education and job skills to create economic development. We believe that by lifting the lives of Afghan's women and children, we lift the entire country. From its founding in 1995 in the Afghan refugee camps, AIL has been providing health services to hundreds of thousands each year.
Currently, across 11 provinces, AIL runs 44 Learning Centers, 9 health clinics with 24 village- based Community Health Worker posts.
Job Description
Specialist Consultant utilize her specialized knowledge to diagnose and treat patients, often handling the more complex cases within their specialty. She typically lead a team of doctors, including specialty registrars and foundation doctors, guiding and mentoring them in clinical practice. Some of the main responsibilities and duties are as bellow:
Patient Diagnosis and Management: Applying extensive medical knowledge to diagnose and manage a wide range of acute and chronic illnesses in adults.
Comprehensive Care Coordination: Overseeing and coordinating patient care, especially for those with complex, multisystem diseases, ensuring all aspects of a patient's health are addressed.
Health Promotion and Disease Prevention: Emphasizing preventive care by advising patients on lifestyle modifications, vaccinations, and screening tests to prevent illness and detect diseases early.
Consultation Services: Providing expert opinions to other medical professionals regarding complex medical cases, aiding in the diagnosis and management of challenging patient conditions.
Patient Education and Communication: Clearly explaining diagnoses, treatment options, and prognoses to patients and their families, ensuring they are well-informed and involved in decision-making.
Continuous Professional Development: Engaging in ongoing education to stay current with medical advancements, ensuring the provision of up-to-date and evidence-based care.
Supervision and Training: Mentoring and supervising junior doctors, medical students, and other healthcare professionals, contributing to the education and development of the medical team.
