Initiatives for Sustainable Development and Relief Organization (ISDRO) is a national, non-governmental, and non-political organization based in Kabul and registered with the Ministry of Economy. ISDRO is dedicated to expanding access to essential services—particularly maternal and child health, youth empowerment, and education—in underserved communities. Operating in Kabul and nearby provinces, ISDRO works closely with relevant ministries and partners to align its programs with national priorities, aiming to improve health outcomes, promote resilience, and enhance the well-being of Afghanistan’s most vulnerable populations.

Job Descriptions:

Through this internship program, ISDRO aims to cultivate a new generation of professionals by offering hands-on learning opportunities across key departments including Program, Health, Finance, and IT. The initiative is designed to strengthen both the technical competencies and soft skills of interns—empowering them to grow professionally, apply their academic knowledge in real-world settings, and contribute meaningfully to ongoing development efforts in Afghanistan.

Duties and responsibilities:

Program Department – Intern (2 positions: 1 Male, 1 Female)

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in reviewing project reports from implementing partners and summarizing lessons learned to support future project planning, especially in family health and youth-focused programs.
  • Conduct desk reviews and background research on health and development topics to support the creation of policy briefs, proposals, and awareness materials.
  • Contribute to the development of project concept notes, proposals, and communication materials.
  • Support event planning and logistics for program-related meetings, workshops, and awareness campaigns.
  • Assist in drafting meeting minutes, coordination emails, and documentation for internal and external coordination.
  • Collaborate with monitoring and evaluation staff to update data on project indicators and progress.
  • Stay updated on national priorities and global trends in areas related to ISDRO’s work.

 

🏥 Health Department – Intern (2 Midwife: Female)

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist medical staff in tracking maternal and child health service coverage and identifying gaps in service delivery.
  • Help maintain accurate records of health service delivery and client follow-ups.
  • Support cold chain and medicine storage monitoring in compliance with standard health protocols.
  • Participate in outreach and health education sessions focused on family health, nutrition, and hygiene.
  • Assist in educating clients about preventive care and encouraging continued participation in services.
  • Report service delivery challenges or irregularities to the supervisor and contribute to solutions.
  • Help prepare and organize health-related reports and training sessions.

 

💼 Finance Department – Intern (2 positions: 1 Male, 1 Female)

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Support the finance team in maintaining accurate and organized records of financial transactions.
  • Assist in reviewing and entering financial data into the organization’s accounting system.
  • Help with budget tracking, petty cash management, and documentation of expenses for specific projects.
  • Contribute to the preparation of financial reports, audits, and donor compliance files.
  • Verify the accuracy of supporting documents before processing payments.
  • Maintain confidentiality and professionalism in handling sensitive financial data.

 

💻 Information Technology (IT) Department – Intern (2 positions: 1 Male, 1 Female)

Duties & Responsibilities:

  • Assist in troubleshooting hardware and software issues across departments.
  • Support the maintenance of the organization's internal network, computers, and security systems.
  • Help in setting up new workstations and installing required software.
  • Maintain an inventory of IT equipment and report maintenance needs to the supervisor.
  • Provide technical assistance during online meetings, presentations, and trainings.
  • Support data entry tasks and assist in maintaining internal databases for departments such as Health and Program.
  • Ensure backup systems are up to date and functioning properly

🌐 Program Department Interns

  • Recent graduate or final-year student in one of the following fields:
    Business Administration (BBA), Law (LL.B), Economics, Human Resource Management, Project Management, or other relevant social science fields.
  • Additional certifications or professional diplomas in project/program management, communication, or development studies are highly preferred.

🏥 Health Department Interns

  • Recent graduate or final-year student in General Medicine (MD), Midwifery, Nursing, or other related health disciplines.
  • Professional training or diplomas in project management, healthcare service delivery, or community health programming are an asset.

💼 Finance Department Interns

  • Recent graduate or final-year student in Finance, Business Administration (BBA), Economics, ACCA, or other related financial fields.
  • Preference will be given to candidates holding professional certifications such as QuickBooks, Peachtree, ACCA courses, or similar credentials.

💻 IT Department Interns

  • Recent graduate or final-year student in Computer Science, Information Technology, Software Engineering, Business Administration, or Natural Sciences.
  • Additional diplomas or certifications in networking, system administration, database management, or IT support are desirable.

🌟 General Requirements for All Departments

  • Fluency in Pashto and Dari is required; strong command of English (both spoken and written) is highly desirable.
  • Proficiency in MS Office programs (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and basic digital tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to adapt to dynamic environments and work effectively with individuals from diverse cultural and professional backgrounds.
  • Candidates must be 18 years of age or older at the time of application.
