Under the direct supervision of the Legal Officer, the Legal Counsellor will support his/her supervisor through legal assistance delivery for IDPs, Returnees, and host communities, following WADAN policies and donor requirements, and SOPs.

Duties and Responsibilities:

• Conduct community mapping and needs assessments using participatory approaches in collaboration with local community members.
• Actively participate in community forums and outreach events, following the schedule provided by the supervisor.
• Organize and deliver legal awareness sessions and workshops targeting vulnerable individuals and groups in the community.
• Provide legal counseling and guidance on civil, family, and other legal matters relevant to the target population.
• Conduct beneficiary assessments and ensure that legal assistance is provided in a professional, confidential, and rights-based manner.
• Track, document, and follow up on legal cases and referrals in line with established case management procedures and referral pathways.
• Ensure timely and appropriate legal support is provided to clients, with clear documentation of each case.
• Maintain close communication and coordination with project stakeholders, particularly relevant government authorities and institutions, within the area of responsibility.
• Represent the project in external meetings and working groups as requested.
• Support the project team in documenting success stories, challenges, and best practices related to legal aid provision.

• Bachelor’s degree in Law, Sharia, or related field. A license to practice law is an advantage.
• 2-3 years of relevant experience in legal assistance projects in the organization.
• Advantageous Experience: Prior work with refugees, internally displaced persons (IDPs), or marginalized communities.
• Personal skills, community mobilization, meeting and forum organizing, conflict resolution, communication, and coordination.
• Strong knowledge of civil documentation processes and legal rights.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and facilitation skills, with strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
• Fluency in Dari and Pashto is required; English proficiency is an asset.
