Our work is well established in Herat, Badghis, Ghor, and Faryab provinces in the western region of Afghanistan. We work closely with all levels of society including children, parents, teachers, village councils, religious leaders, ministries, provincial departments, and other national and international agencies.

Job Descriptions:

JOB PURPOSE:

Counsellor will conduct counselling and life skills sessions for street working children and their families at the HEMAT Project centre & if need at home. She will conduct advocacy meeting /training for community leaders, teachers & stakeholder.

MAJOR RESPONSIBILITES:

Counsellor will conduct counselling and life skills sessions for street working children and their families at the HEMAT Project centre & if need at home. She will conduct advocacy meeting /training for community leaders, teachers & stakeholder.

  •  Outreach workers are supported in identifying children and their families to be included in the street working children program.
  • A daily individual and group counselling schedule is developed for street working children and their families.
  • Daily counselling sessions are conducted for street working children and their caregivers, addressing their needs and maintaining/referring cases as required.
  • Weekly group counselling sessions for street children are provided as per the schedule.
  • Advocacy meetings and training sessions are conducted with families of street working children to promote school attendance.
  • Standard methods for assisting street working children and their parents are followed up.
  • Advocacy sessions on child protection are conducted to raise awareness.
  • Close cooperation is maintained with religious leaders, police, and stakeholders to enhance community awareness of children's rights.
  • Counselling sessions are conducted for the staff of HEMAT Project centre.
  • Coordination with teachers at the HEMAT Project centre is established to monitor the progress of street working children.
  • Collaborate with other healthcare professionals, including primary care physicians, nurses, and social workers, to coordinate patient care and ensure continuity of care.
  • Participate in quality improvement and performance management activities to ensure the highest standards of care.
  • Compliance with World Vision's Child and Adult Safeguarding policy and standards.
  • Familiarity with and readiness to implement World Vision Afghanistan's Humanitarian and Emergency Affairs plan within the framework of interventions at the HEMAT centre.

Job Requirements:

KNOWLEDGEALIFICATIONS FOR THE ROLE

Required Professional Experience:

  • At least 2 years’ experience working with children and/or vulnerable groups (as a counsellor, teacher or outreach worker)  

Required Education,training, license, registration, and certification.

Graduated from relevant institue/ Faculty (Psychology, Education, Socialogy, Nursing) 

Preferred Knowledge and Qualifications

  • Attended ToT of life skills training. 

    Strong capacity building & facilitation skills.

    Travel and/or Work Environment

  • 6 days working in HEMAT Center
