Job Descriptions:

Purpose of the Position:

The Trainer in Agriculture will deliver practical, culturally sensitive, hands-on training on on-season and off-season vegetable production, post-harvest handling, and CSA practices to women greenhouse beneficiaries, enabling them to manage the greenhouses productively and sustainably.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Conduct 18 structured training sessions (2-day and 3-day formats) for women beneficiaries across 15 greenhouses on:
    • On-season and off-season vegetable sowing techniques
    • Post-harvest handling and preservation
    • CSA practices in greenhouse environments
  • Use demonstration-based learning approaches with locally adapted examples.
  • Prepare and adapt training modules and practical manuals in Dari and Pashto, ensuring they are suitable for low-literacy contexts.
  • Integrate disaster-risk reduction and climate resilience into training content.
  • Provide individualized coaching and on-site support during initial cultivation cycles post-training.
  • Demonstrate the use of pest management kits, soil preparation, seedling trays, and mulching.
  • Coordinate with the Logistics & Field Coordinator for venue arrangements, material readiness, and input availability.
  • Facilitate a comfortable, culturally appropriate learning environment for women participants.
  • Ensure safeguarding principles are followed during all training sessions.
  • Maintain detailed attendance records, photos (with informed consent), and session reports.
  • Support the M&E Officer with pre- and post-training assessments to capture learning outcomes.
  • Document success stories and qualitative feedback from participants.
  • Provide guidance on post-harvest handling for improved marketability of produce.
  • Contribute to discussions with women on potential buyer-seller meetings and market exposure.
  • Participate in project team meetings for planning and reporting.
  • Share field challenges and lessons learned with the Project Manager to enhance training effectiveness.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Agriculture, Horticulture, or a related field.
  • At least 5 years of professional experience in delivering practical training in agriculture, CSA practices, or livelihood projects targeting micro/small enterprises and women-owned businesses.
  • Demonstrated experience working in humanitarian or development contexts, preferably in Kandahar and Helmand.
  • Proven record of facilitating community-based agricultural trainings and coaching sessions.
  • Knowledge of CSA practices, pest management, post-harvest preservation, and greenhouse operations.
  • Understanding of gender-sensitive approaches in agriculture programming.
