The BIMS/Registration Assistant – Technical is responsible for supporting biometric registration activities by operating and maintaining Biometric Identity Management System (BIMS) equipment, troubleshooting technical issues, and ensuring accurate data collection and secure data transfer in coordination with field teams and for used to uniquely identify individuals, prevent, duplication and ensure accurate assistance delivery case management processes.

Key Responsibilities:

• Conduct registration interviews in accordance with local Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs) and registration standards.
• Respond to queries from asylum seekers and refugees regarding WADAN/UNHCR’s registration procedures, rights, and entitlements.
• The incumbent is responsible for supporting all activities related to registration, which may also include functions related to reception, filing, and data management. He/she responds to queries from asylum seekers and refugees regarding WADAN/UNHCR's registration procedures, as well as their rights and entitlements.
• Maintain accurate and up-to-date records and data for all individual registration cases.
• Identify persons with specific needs and ensure timely referral for protection follow-up as necessary.
• Support the setup, configuration, and operation of BIMS/registration equipment (laptops, biometric kits, printers, internet devices).
• Provide first-line technical troubleshooting for hardware and software issues related to BIMS.
• Assist with the installation and updates of BIMS applications in coordination with the central or regional IT team.
• Ensure the biometric devices are fully functional and maintained during field activities.
• Support data backup, encryption, and secure transfer of registration data to central servers.
• Assist in training field registration staff on the correct use of BIMS hardware and software.
• Monitor the quality and accuracy of data collected during the registration process.
• Report any system malfunctions or data discrepancies to the relevant technical teams.
• Ensure compliance with data protection and confidentiality protocols.
• Support other registration-related tasks as needed.

• Diploma or bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or related field.
• Minimum 2–3 years of experience in ICT support or data collection systems.
• Previous experience with biometric registration systems is preferred.
• Familiarity with Android and Windows operating systems.
• Good knowledge of MS Office applications and data management tools.
• Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
• Ability to work in remote or field locations and under pressure.
• Good communication and teamwork skills.
• Fluency in Dari/Pashto and strong working knowledge of English.
