Job Descriptions:

Position Summary

The Master Trainer will serve as a key technical expert to build the capacity of literacy and vocational skills facilitators under a large-scale community-based education and livelihoods program. The role requires a dynamic professional with advanced training and facilitation skills, strong adult literacy and vocational education knowledge, and a proven ability to empower trainers to deliver high-quality, inclusive, and learner-centered instruction. The Master Trainer will ensure that training programs meet the highest professional, ethical, and safeguarding standards while fostering the empowerment of women, men, youth, and marginalized groups.

Key Responsibilities

  • Design and deliver comprehensive pre-service and in-service training for literacy and skills development facilitators, using participatory and learner-centered methodologies.
  • Conduct Training of Trainers (ToT) sessions for community mobilizers, counsellors, and committee members to strengthen local ownership and sustainability.
  • Mentor, coach, and provide technical support to facilitators throughout the project to improve the quality of teaching and learning outcomes.
  • Ensure that all training content incorporates functional literacy, numeracy, vocational skills, gender equality, protection principles, and safeguarding measures.
  • Monitor and assess the effectiveness of training delivery through pre-/post-tests, field visits, and performance evaluations of facilitators.
  • Ensure safe, inclusive, and respectful learning environments that promote the participation of women, persons with disabilities, widows, and youth.
  • Contribute to the development of training materials, reports, and documentation of lessons learned.
  • Collaborate closely with project staff to ensure alignment of training with project goals and community needs.
  • Perform other related tasks as required to achieve the objectives of the project.

     

Job Requirements:

  • University degree in Education, Social Sciences, Community Development, or related field (Master’s degree preferred).
  • Minimum 3–5 years of proven experience delivering professional training, adult education, vocational training, or literacy programs in Afghanistan.
  • Demonstrated expertise in facilitation of ToTs, curriculum delivery, and coaching of trainers.
  • Strong knowledge of adult learning methodologies, gender mainstreaming, and protection principles (PSEA/GBV/child safeguarding).
  • Excellent facilitation, mentoring, and interpersonal communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse groups, including women and marginalized communities.
  • Experience working with NGOs, INGOs, or development projects is highly desirable.
  • Strong report writing and documentation skills.
  • Fluency in Dari and Pashto (written and spoken); English language skills are an asset.
