Job Descriptions:

WASSA is launching a three-month emergency response project to support returnees in Herat province, including Islam Qala border, Guzara, Injil, and Herat City. The project focuses on addressing urgent needs in food security and health, particularly for vulnerable returnee families. The interventions are including of the hot meals distribution cooked through the community kitchens, cash-for-food assistance for vulnerable households, and the operation of a Health Center (CHC/BHC) in Injil district to ensure access to primary health services.

 

This is a night shift, grant-funded Midwife position under the ACJR-DRA/CARE health services to assist the pregnant women to deliver in Jaghartan CHC in Injil district. The midwife is responsible for provision of delivery, newbern care, and psychosocial support consoling to pregnant women during the night in the project targeted location.

Job Requirements:

2. Key Responsibilities

  1. Patient registration (Registers, Tally sheets, visit cards and follow up registration book) during the night shift.
  2. Patient examination (BP, vital signs, abdominal examination, weight, MUAC and …)
  3. Monitoring the health of pregnant women and their unborn babies.
  4. Educating patients as well as their partners and family members on reproductive health, preparation for parenthood, and antenatal care.
  5. Delivering patients’ babies in birthing centers, or hospitals as well as providing emotional support and encouragement during labor at night shift.
  6. Resuscitation/recovery of newborn if needed and clamp and cut cord
  7. Taking and recording patients' blood pressure, temperature, and pulse as well as ordering diagnostic tests as needed.
  8. Breastfeeding of newborn at the first hours
  9. Emotional support for mother and family
  10. Teaching new mothers how to feed their newborns.
  11. Follow up of patients or pregnant women for visits.
  12. Prepare reports of activities and share with head of clinic
  13. Any other duties assigned by direct supervisor.
