Job Descriptions:

 

WASSA is launching a three-month emergency response project to support returnees in Herat province, including Islam Qala border, Guzara, Injil, and Herat City. The project focuses on addressing urgent needs in food security and health, particularly for vulnerable returnee families. The interventions are including of the hot meals distribution cooked through the community kitchens, cash-for-food assistance for vulnerable households, and the operation of a Health Center (CHC/BHC) in Injil district to ensure access to primary health services.

 

This is a full-time, grant-funded vaccinator position under the ACJR-DRA/CARE project to assist the communities including the returnees in outreach areas under the catchment areas of Jaghartan CHC in Injil district of Herat province. To ensure sufficiency of vaccines and others vaccine related supplies, request the EPI related materials from EPI or health supervisor on the right time, provide routine immunization services in outreach areas, manage the cold chain system according to EPI protocols, conduct the vaccination activities according to national immunization standards and report in monthly basis.

2. Key Responsibilities

  1. Obtain the vaccine for EPI department or near agreed health facilities.
  2. Responsible for providing and explaining immunization-related to the clients in outreach areas.
  3. Registration of clients (Registers, Vaccine cards, and ....
  4. Conducting vaccination activities according to national immunization standards.
  5. Determines appropriate vaccine type and dose volume appropriate for each client.
  6. Prepares site and administers oral, IM, or IC vaccine per standard protocol.
  7. Dispose of sharps in an appropriate receptacle
  8. Active case identification of the children and women eligible to receive vaccine from the community to increase vaccine uptake and reduce the vaccine wastage.
  9. Documents vaccination on record and immunization card.
  10. As a vaccine preparer, will pre-fill syringes a few at a time, follow a strict protocol for labeling and handling prefilled syringes, and keep supplies stocked.
  11. Recognize, respond to, and alert emergency medical personnel of possible post-vaccination reactions.
  12. Responsible for entering vaccine lot numbers and other required information onto patient’s Immunization Cards.
  13. Counsel and educate patients, their families, and the community about immunization and relevant areas of health.
  14. Participate in EPI mass campaigns.
  15. Provide information/education for client (advantage of vaccines, side effect, follow-up and …)
  16. Supervise the volunteer’s activities at the district level.
  17. Actively participate in community-based program in outreach areas.
  18. Assist in dispensing medicine and other supplies to patients when it is required.
  19. Ensure the patients understand how to properly use the prescribed medicines.
  20. Provide and support immunization services in the community for target groups.
  21. To ensure accurate registration and reporting of activities.
  22. Storage and look after vaccines and other EPI instruments in his area.
  23. Proper running of his area cold chain.
  24. Prepare and maintain the activity timetable of the immunization activities.
  25. Arrange vaccination sessions according to the timetable.
