Today’s Afghanistan Conciliation Trust (TACT) is an impartial non-profit national NGO/CSO that is free from linguistic, ethnic, tribal, religious, and political affiliations and prejudices. TACT was founded in 2010 by a group of professional and intellectual Afghans who devoted most of their time to serving the Afghan people in the contexts of education, healthcare, and humanitarian assistance in the country.

TACT is to implement the Provision of essential psycho-social and well-being services for returnees and displaced children and women in 4 targeted districts of Logar and Paktika provinces.

Job Descriptions:

Job Summary:

The PSS Counselor will provide psychosocial support and counseling services to vulnerable children and their families within the child protection project. The role involves identifying children at risk, offering therapeutic interventions, facilitating community awareness, and ensuring the well-being and protection of children in line with project objectives and child protection standards. Additionally, they will work closely with community leaders and authorities to design and implement psychosocial activities, along with handling any other tasks assigned by the Project Officer.

 Job Description: 

  • Develop a comprehensive field activities plan in close collaboration with the Project Officer, tailored to the specific needs of target communities.
  • Review and adapt Psychosocial Support (PSS) materials to ensure they effectively address beneficiaries' needs related to stress and depression.
  • Manage a specialized caseload through casework, including conducting research and assessments, and preparing individualized reports for admission, placement, and discharge as applicable.
  • Assess and identify beneficiaries requiring psychosocial support within target communities.
  • Schedule and facilitate field meetings with families, community leaders, influential figures, parents, teachers, and other stakeholders.
  • Implement psychosocial training sessions based on pre-developed plans within target communities.
  • Provide context-specific PSS support at the individual, family, and community levels.
  • Collaborate closely with community elders, representatives, and relevant authorities to design and implement psychosocial activities aligned with community needs.

Any additional project-related tasks as assigned by the Project Officer

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Psychology or a related field.
  • Have a minimum of 3-4 years of relevant professional experience with NNGOs and INGOs.
  • Demonstrate strong communication skills.
  • Basic knowledge of child protection principles and services.
  • Ability to make plans and prepare reports.
  • Able to speak Pashto and Dari.
  • Have experience working effectively in high-pressure environments.
  • Proficient knowledge and experience in Microsoft Office.
