Job Descriptions:

Position Summary:

The Senior Finance Officer will be responsible for overseeing the overall financial management of Yaqeen High School branches across the country.
This includes financial planning, documentation, accounting, auditing, taxation, compliance, and ensuring adherence to both international and national financial regulations and standards.

Reports to: Managing Director

Key Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and manage the overall financial operations of all Yaqeen High School branches nationwide.
  • Ensure timely and accurate preparation, documentation, and maintenance of financial records.
  • Develop, implement, and monitor financial policies, systems, and internal controls in line with Financial standards.
  • Manage accounting functions including bookkeeping, payroll, payments, and reconciliations.
  • Ensure compliance with Afghan taxation laws and international financial reporting standards.
  • Prepare periodic financial reports (monthly, quarterly, annual) for management and stakeholders.
  • Lead the development and monitoring of annual budgets and forecasts for school branches.
  • Coordinate with internal and external auditors to ensure transparent and accountable financial practices.
  • Monitor cash flow, bank accounts, and financial transactions across all branches.
  • Provide financial advice and guidance to management for strategic decision-making.
  • Ensure compliance with donor/partner financial reporting requirements (if applicable).
  • Conduct financial risk assessments and recommend mitigation measures.
  • Manage and train finance staff across branches to ensure standardization and efficiency.
  • Support resource mobilization through financial planning and grant compliance oversight.
  • Ensure confidentiality, accuracy, and integrity of all financial data.
  • Additional tasks may be assigned as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, or Business Administration (Master's preferred).
  • Professional certification (e.g., ACCA, CPA, CA) is highly desirable.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive experience in financial management, preferably in education or NGO sector.
  • Strong knowledge of Afghan taxation laws and international financial standards.
  • Proven skills in budgeting, reporting, and financial analysis.
  • Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, Tally, or similar).
  • Excellent communication, leadership, and problem-solving skills.
