Job Descriptions:

Under the overall supervision of the South Region Coordinator, the direct supervision of the Senior Programme Associate, and the technical guidance of the Program Associate (CRC Team Leader), the successful candidate will contribute to the roll-out of IOM resilience and solutions programmes focused on area-based approaches. he/she will perform the following duties.

Job Requirements:

Core Functions / Responsibilities:

  1. Support community mobilization for the CCCM programme activities, organization of assessments, focused group discussions, awareness campaigns, and community engagement activities at the site level. 
  2. Support community mobilization for IOM and partners assistance distributions at catchment area level within targeted communities with particular emphasis on meaningful inclusion of women, children, elderly and persons with specific needs into decision-making processes.
  3. Assist to enable effective dialogue with the catchment area population through the setting up of information sharing and feedback mechanisms
  4. Provide information to the catchment area population about the assistance and services available in the CRC or the catchment area and how to access them. Promote the participation of the IDPs, returnees and host populations at catchment area level, with particular emphasis on meaningful inclusion of women, children, elderly and persons with specific needs.
  5. Help identify and report gaps and/or duplication in service delivery at catchment area level in coordination with catchment area and relevant stakeholder and inform CRC team leader.
  6. Assist in the implementation of community events, outreach campaigns and awareness-raising on key humanitarian subjects relevant to displacement site population engaging local government structures and community leaders to maintain a close coordination throughout the project.
  7. Participate in multi-sector needs assessments, service provision monitoring and safety audits, among others at catchment area level, according to CCCM WG standardized tools and give basic support to the monitoring and evaluation of the project implementation.
  8. Undertake duty travel to support the smooth implementation of all the tasks mentioned above.
  9. Perform such other duties as may be assigned.

Required Qualifications and Experience

Education

University degree from an accredited academic institution, preferably in social sciences, political science, development, international relations, or related field, with at least one year of relevant work experience

Or

High School diploma with three (3) years of relevant professional experience.

 

Experience

  • Experience in community mobilization and community engagement
  • Experience in Camp Coordination and Camp Management (an advantage)
  • Strong ability to engage with community members, partners, and other stakeholders in a respectful manner (essential)
  • Familiarity with the local area and surroundings (desirable)
  • Experience with participatory fieldwork, methodologies, and monitoring

Skills:

  • Ability to work effectively and harmoniously in a team of colleagues of varied cultural and professional backgrounds
  • Ability to work independently, with excellent organizational and multi-tasking skills
  • Ability to work in challenging settings under pressure while respecting tight deadlines
  • Knowledge of camp management-related technical guidelines, standards, and indicators.

Languages

  • For this position, fluency in English is required (oral and written).
  • Working knowledge of Dari or Pashto is required.
  • Fluency in all national language(s) are highly advantages.
