About ORCD:

Organization for Research & Community Development (ORCD) is a Non-governmental, Non-political, Non-profitable and independent organization founded in 2011 by a group of community development and research specialist. The aim of the organization is to contribute to the development of Afghanistan as an integral part of the international community. It envisages accomplishing its aims by building local capacities, generating evidence in various disciplines, promoting evidence-based on best practices and implementing development projects aimed at community development at the grass root level. ORCD is a multi-donor funded NGO, implementing health, agriculture and community development projects in several provinces of the country.

Job Descriptions:

 

  • Conduct physical examinations and take medical histories of beneficiaries.
  • Screen all sick children for acute malnutrition and record cases of Severe Acute Malnutrition (SAM) and Moderate Acute Malnutrition (MAM) on treatment cards.
  • Prescribe medicines, Ready-to-Use Therapeutic Food (RUTF), Ready-to-Use Supplementary Food (RUSF), and other nutritional supports as needed.
  • Provide clear instructions to beneficiaries on how to use medicines, RUTF, RUSF, and other food supplements, including when to return for follow-up visits.
  • Assist the Nutrition Officer in deciding when to refer complicated SAM/MAM or IMCI cases to hospitals.
  • Support the Nutrition Officer in making discharge decisions for SAM/MAM cases.
  • Keep records of medicine, RUTF, RUSF, and other food consumption.
  • Prepare annual and monthly plans in coordination with the provincial directorate of public health (DoPH.
  • Identify and map villages and communities with poor access to nutrition services.
  • Supervise team members to ensure proper implementation of field activities.
  • Communicate with community elders before visiting villages for service delivery.
  • Coordinate with health authorities to determine fixed sites for mobile services.
  • Ensure availability of all necessary supplies (medicines, therapeutic food, and non-medical items).
  • Develop mobile team schedules and submit them to the line manager/NGO/PPHD.
  • Collect accurate nutrition data using HMIS standard formats.
  • Compile monthly reports from service delivery points according to HMIS standards and submit them to the line manager/NGO/PPHD.
  • Maintain confidentiality on all matters related to ORCD.
  • Perform any other tasks assigned by the Provincial Project Manager.

Job Requirements:

  • Nationality & Gender: Must be an Afghan female graduate of a recognized Nursing Institute (Nutrition Diploma preferred).
  • 2–3 years’ experience as a Nutrition Nurse with NNGOs/INGOs, plus 2–3 years in general health work.
  • Fluent in Pashto and Dari; English is an asset.
  • Skilled in nutrition protocols, maternal/child health, patient counseling, and accurate reporting.
  • Strong interpersonal skills; able to work in fast-paced, challenging environments.
  • Willing and flexible to travel frequently to field locations.
