SCI - Afghanistan

 Save the Children has been working in Afghanistan since 1976. Our way of working close to people and on their own terms has enabled us to deliver lasting change to tens of thousands of children in the country. The UN Convention of the Rights of the Child is the basis of our work.

We are helping children get a better education, we make it possible for more boys and girls to attend school, we help children protect themselves and influence their own conditions. We work with families, communities and health workers in homes, clinics and hospitals to promote basic health in order to save lives of children and mothers

Job Descriptions:

CHILD SAFEGUARDING:

Level 3:  the post holder will have contact with children and/or young people either frequently (e.g. once a week or more) or intensively (e.g. four days in one month or more or overnight) because they work country programs; or are visiting the country programs; or because they are responsible for implementing the police checking/vetting process staff.

ROLE PURPOSE:

The Purpose is to manage the routine translation of MoUs and other critical documents, ensuring that the language used is precise and contextually appropriate. Also to Ensure that all proposals and programs are reviewed and aligned with Islamic principles to facilitate approval and successful implementation. And work on Community Engagement.

KEY AREAS OF ACCOUNTABILITY:

  • Translate key documents accurately while considering cultural and religious nuances.
  • Collaborate with cultural experts to ensure translations meet the standards required for approval from the DFAs.
  • Review and revise translated materials to maintain high-quality standards.
  • Work closely with local community leaders to understand cultural sensitivities and ensure that translations are well-received.
  •  Organize feedback sessions with community representatives to continually refine and improve translation practices.
  • Engage with local Islamic organizations and scholars to gather insights and support for program development.
  • Host community workshops to discuss how projects align with Islamic principles and address any concerns from local stakeholders.
  • Analyze proposals and programs to ensure they adhere to Islamic values and guidelines.
  • Consult with Islamic scholars and community experts to verify alignment with religious principles.
  •  Integrate feedback from Islamic reviews into the development process to enhance project relevance and acceptance.

Job Requirements:

QUALIFICATIONS 

  • Preferable academic qualifications/ Bachelor of Sharia law, International Relations, Political Science, or related fields.

EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS

  • At least 2 years of working experience in relevant areas, Preferably experience of working with Access or program implementation and community engagement.
  • Excellent speaking, writing and reading in English, Dari and Pashto.
  • Familiar with MS Office applications (Word, Excel and power point), and Internet.
  • Able to keep confidentiality
  • Demonstrated ability to communicate clearly, effectively, and respectfully to colleagues, clients, and key stakeholders
  • Good interpersonal and team working skills
  • Ability to work independently self-motivated and organizes its own time and work independently
