About NSRDO

NSRDO Background:

NSRDO is a youth-led organization founded in 2006, dedicated to empowering marginalized women, children, and people with disabilities across Afghanistan. We focus on uplifting vulnerable communities by addressing critical issues such as poverty, education, WASH, healthcare, and sustainable development. Guided by the belief that everyone deserves a fair chance at a better future, we work tirelessly to provide resources, support, and hope to those in need.

We also work in food & security, agriculture, emergency relief, nutrition, peacebuilding, livelihood, community infrastructure, and the defense of human rights. NSRDO commenced its operations in 2005. Since then, NSRDO has been operating in Kabul and other provinces of Afghanistan and has regional offices in Nangarhar, Kandahar, Herat, Kunduz, Bamyan, and Paktia Provinces, along with its head office in Kabul.
NSRDO was registered in the Ministry of Planning by decision no. (951) dated 25/6/1383 and entitled to work in the capital, Kabul, and other provinces. This is also reregistered in the Ministry of Economy by decision no. (598) dated 8/6/06. Additionally, the US Embassy, the European Commission, the Canadian Fund, UNPP, UNGM, MoLSA, MoMD, MoE, and MoPH all have NSRDO registered.

For over 20 years, we have collaborated with donors, volunteers, and partner organizations to create meaningful, lasting change. Our mission is to deliver immediate relief while implementing sustainable solutions that enhance the quality of life for future generations.

NSRDO operates solely in Afghanistan, aiming to transform itself into one of Afghanistan’s foremost- developed NGOs. Although it continues to respond to the needs of rural communities in order to improve their living condition and utilize the resource in a well and transparent manner. NSRDO endeavors to reach the most disadvantaged groups in Afghan society often under very difficult circumstances. Among those with whom NSRDO works are poor families, women, farmers, unemployed and the uneducated population across the country.

Job Description

JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

Technical Advice and Support:
Conduct capacity building trainings and workshops to teachers and facilitators using AKF(Afg)’s existing training packages;
Create a collaborative learning environment among teachers and facilitators through cost-effective platforms of Teacher Learning Circles (TLCs);
Train and mentor Shura members to support educational intervention in their communities;
In consultation with the NSRDO Provincial Office-Takhar, prepare mentoring and activity plans (monthly, quarterly, and yearly) and mentor teachers and facilitators on the given training topics, their roles and responsibilities, conducting catch-up classes, and supporting peer groups;
Facilitate development of action plans for each stakeholder (Shuras and community influential leaders) after each training and mentoring; and
Train and Mentor catch-up, remedial, ECD, CBS and formal school facilitators and teachers.
Program Planning and Delivery:
Develop mentoring plans for teachers and other related stakeholders on a monthly, quarterly, and yearly basis.
Develop teaching learning material distribution plans aligned with project goal and academic year


Program Effectiveness:
Support CBS/ECD/Catch-up/remedial/ teachers and facilitators to develop and use effective teaching resources to enhance the quality of their lessons;
Provide mentoring to teachers, Shura members, so that they are technically able to support the classes by their own; and
Work directly with teachers and facilitators to ensure that they are practicing the acquired knowledge and skills.
Establish a constructive learning environment and relationship with the teachers and facilitators to encourage advice-seeking and maximize learning opportunities.
 Resource Management:
Distribute students, teachers and classroom kits, visual kits, hygiene kits, to the classes and ensure they are stored in a safe and secure place
Support teachers to develop relevant low-cost/ no-cost learning materials to enrich and supplement the textbooks
5. Community Mobilization:

Conduct Out of School Children (OOSCs) surveys, identify and report number of OOSCs children, especially marginalized children;
Carry out community mobilization and sensitization campaigns and meetings to establish CBS, ECD, catch-up, remedial classes in close coordination with relevant stakeholders and facilitate the hiring of teachers and facilitators to teach the class(s) using a transparent professional method;
In close collaboration with line manager, conduct awareness and back to school campaigns with Shuras to engage religious leaders and community leaders, Community Development Councils (CDC), and parents/caregivers on gender / child rights, and the importance of education, health and hygiene practices;
In close collaboration with line manager and local education stakeholders, complete physical School Improvement Projects (SIPs) and Provide WASH facilities (hand washing portable station) to create safe, girl-friendly, and child-friendly learning environment;
Organize and support listening circles for community members to listen and discuss topics impacting education, especially for girls, Girls’ and children with disabilities’ right using existing radio messages developed under previous CBE projects.
6. Reporting:

Keep records of activities, results, challenges, and impact of the program daily; and
Submit accurate narrative and M&E reports, and case studies, to the line manager in a timely manner that meets the requirements of the project.
Identify and report good practices, success stories and lessons learned in the coverage district;
7. Representation:

Represent the NSRDO Education program at meetings, education events/campaigns, and other relevant education interventions at school and community level.
8. Commitment for Child Protection:

Carry out the responsibilities of the role in a way which reflects commitment to protecting children in accordance with the AKF (Afg) Child Safeguarding Policy and advocates for the rights of children; and
Report any breaches of the Child Safeguarding Policy to the district-level child protection focal point.

Job Requirements

Minimum university degree (Bachelor’s) in Education
Strong communication skills with different education stakeholders including PED/DED Academic Supervisors, Social Mobilizers, School Management Shura and community members.
Minimum 3 years working experience as primary school teachers, community mobilizer
Outstanding planning skills to ensure the timely implementation of project plans; and


Excellent understanding of issues facing improving education at school level.
