Job Description

The Training Instructor will deliver high-quality training under the Education Workforce Skills Programme in Logar and Maidan Wardak, equipping youth with practical instructional, classroom management, literacy, numeracy, and professional skills required for entry-level roles in schools and private learning centers.

Roles & Responsibilities

1- Training Delivery and Facilitation:

  • Deliver structured training sessions in line with the approved curriculum, session plans, and training schedule covering instructional techniques, classroom management, early grade learning support, literacy and numeracy reinforcement, child-friendly practices, and professional workplace conduct.

2- Session Planning and Preparation:

  • Prepare lesson plans, training materials, handouts, exercises, demonstrations, and classroom activities required for effective delivery of the Education Workforce Skills Programme in accordance with project guidance and instructional standards.
  • Ensure training venues, teaching aids, attendance tools, and learning materials are ready before each session and support a well-organized and disciplined classroom environment.

3- Learner Assessment and Progress Monitoring:

  • Monitor trainee participation, attendance, learning progress, and practical performance throughout the training cycle and provide regular feedback to help beneficiaries strengthen their competencies.
  • Conduct pre-tests, post-tests, quizzes, assignments, practical exercises, and other learning assessments as required, and maintain accurate records of learner performance and completion status.

4- Practical Skills Development and Internship Readiness:

  • Guide trainees in applying knowledge through teaching practice, classroom simulations, group work, micro-teaching, and role-based exercises that reflect realistic school and learning center environments.
  • Support beneficiaries to prepare for supervised internships by reinforcing professional behavior, communication skills, lesson support techniques, child safeguarding, and expectations for host institutions.

5- Coordination and Technical Support:

  • Coordinate closely with the Project Manager, education team, training center staff, and other relevant stakeholders to ensure timely implementation of training activities and alignment with the project work plan.
  • Provide technical input on training content, participant challenges, schedule adjustments, instructional materials, and practical improvements to strengthen overall programme quality.

6- Reporting and Documentation:

  • Maintain complete and accurate records of session delivery, attendance, lesson plans, trainee assessments, activity progress, and classroom observations, and submit timely reports to the supervisor.
  • Support documentation of success stories, field observations, training evidence, and beneficiary progress in accordance with organizational and donor requirements.

7- Safeguarding and Compliance:

  • Ensure all training activities are delivered in accordance with safeguarding principles, child protection standards, organizational policies, and donor requirements, with respectful and non-discriminatory treatment of all participants.
  • Promote safe learning spaces, confidentiality, professional conduct, and appropriate referral of any protection or behavioral concerns identified during training delivery.

8- Any Other Supportive Duties:

  • Provide technical support during training reviews, assessments, orientation sessions, internship preparation activities, and other programme events as assigned by the supervisor.
  • Carry out any other relevant responsibilities required for the effective implementation of the Education Workforce Skills Programme.

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree or at least 14th-grade education in Education, Teacher Training, Pedagogy, Social Sciences, or another relevant field.
  • Minimum 3 years of relevant experience in teaching, training facilitation, instructor-led learning, education projects, or youth skills development programmes.
  • Strong facilitation, presentation, communication, and classroom management skills, with the ability to explain concepts clearly and engage learners effectively.
  • Good understanding of instructional methods, lesson planning, learner assessment, and practical teaching techniques, especially for early grade literacy and numeracy support.
  • Ability to prepare training materials, maintain records, assess learner progress, and submit organized reports in a timely manner.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, problem-solving ability, and commitment to inclusive and supportive learning environments.
  • Commitment to safeguarding, confidentiality, non-discrimination, and professional conduct when working with youth beneficiaries and partner institutions.
  • Previous experience with NGOs, vocational or workforce programmes, teacher development, or education-related training initiatives is highly desirable.

Language Requirements:

  • Fluency in written and spoken Dari and Pashto is required; knowledge of English is an advantage.
