About AWSDC

The Afghan Women Skills Development Center (AWSDC) is a national non-governmental organization (NGO) that has been relentlessly working towards the promotion and protection of women's rights in Afghanistan since its inception in 1999. With its key thematic focus areas of livelihoods, WASH, child/women protection, social cohesion, and humanitarian response, AWSDC has made a remarkable impact across several provinces of the country. The organization has provided humanitarian assistance to almost 65,000 COVID-19-affected individuals within its geographical areas since the onset of the pandemic. AWSDC is also a crucial humanitarian actor in Afghanistan, providing child/women protection, WASH and emergency shelter, and non-food items to vulnerable Afghan communities across the country.

In response to the current humanitarian crisis, AWSDC is scaled up its interventions in serving more people by providing life-saving assistance, protection, Livelihoods, WASH, and food/non-food items. The aligned strategic priorities will enable our target groups in addressing their acute deficits of humanitarian response, early recovery through the provision of Emergency Response (Protection, WASH, Food/NFIs) and early recovery and development interventions (Protection Services, WASH, Livelihoods and health).  

AWSDC is in the process to recruit Marketing Officer for its Projects based in Kunduz.

Job Description

The Marketing Officer will work under the direct supervision of the Project manager and FRC Supervisor to support the project participants in FRC Kunduz.

The Market Officer will be responsible for conducting a rapid market assessment, practical linkage of project participants with relevant traders/shops/producer groups and online shopping in the local market during and after the training, she will organize job fairs and product exhibitions. The Market Linkage Officer will work to promote the quality of products and enhance the marketing advantages for the placement of project participants and their products in the local market.

Job Requirements

  • The Market Officer will be responsible for conducting a rapid market assessment to identify the needs and opportunities for the selected skill (tailoring), producing a report on the findings of the assessment and taking further action based on the report.
  • The Market Officer will be responsible for developing and maintaining a list of local businesses/enterprises in the target location in Kabul Province and identifying potential businesses/ enterprises for market support and linkage.
  •  Will help individuals or women as a group and producer groups to connect with the market and sell their products.
  • Provide technical and non-technical training: Beneficiaries will be provided with online and face-to-face guidance on how to market and link their products.
  • Facilitate linkages between enterprises and beneficiaries, such as bulk purchasing, subcontracting and collective marketing, etc.
  • The market linkage officer will develop a market linkage guide in English and Pashto which will have all the necessary information related to market linkage.
  • To identify exhibition opportunities for products and facilitate the participation of the beneficiaries in exhibitions.
  • To facilitate exposure visits for beneficiaries within the project locations and if possible nearby districts.
  • Maintain accurate records of market linkage activities, including contacts, agreements, sales transactions, and outcomes.
  • Work with vocational trainers and trainees to provide technical assistance in identifying the type of vocational enterprise and product design in line with market demand.
  • Collect feedback from market actors and trained individuals or groups to continuously improve market linkage strategies and increase the effectiveness of livelihood interventions.   
  • Lessons learnt, key information, techniques and all necessary information related to market linkage will be shared with the business development and finance trainers and the HELA project team.
  • Provide the report regarding market assessment, market linkage activities and lesson learned.
  • Any other task assigned by project manager.

Qualifications and Experience:

  • University degree preferred in Business Administration (BBA) and Marketing or related field.
  • Minimum of four years of work experience with NGOs/INGOs in project implementation/Management
  • Good English writing and speaking skills
  • Fluency in Pashto / Dari
  • Report writing skills
  • Data analysis
  • Computer and internet literacy
  • Must have Interpersonal Skills (Leadership, Communication, Presentation, Teamwork)
