Jop Purpose:

To promote Optimal MIYCN practices and provide practical support for mothers in understanding and addressing any potential issues common to MIYCN.

Main Duties & Responsibilities:

• Conduct nutrition screening of all children 6-59 months and PLW
• Conduct appetite test to all beneficiaries identified as SAM and MAM before registration into the nutrition program.
• Registration of beneficiaries into OPD SAM and MAM program and frequent follow up until exit from the program as per the national IMAM guidelines.
• Monitor waiting patients for emergency cases and ensure that severe cases are prioritized.
• Regularly conduct nutrition education sessions to caregivers of malnourished children  
• Train caregivers on the Family MUAC activity and conduct practical sessions with them to further build their capacity before distributing MUAC tapes to them  
• Regular collection of nutrition data at the health facility level
• Development of a nutrition filling system at the health facility level for all data collection tools.
• Regular distribution of nutrition supplies (RUTF, RUSF and Super cereal plus/LNS) for SAM and MAM treatment.
• Ensure accurate and up to date stocks are recorded for all nutrition supplies.
• Timely submission of therapeutic food distribution report on a weekly and monthly basis.
• Timely preparation and submission of monthly statistics and stock reports
• Participation and leading the nutrition team during the mass MUAC screening campaign on a quarterly basis.
• Covering MD tasks during his absence
• Supporting the MD in the dispensing of medicines.

As applicable to the position, maintains a clear understanding of International Medical Corps and donor compliance and ethics standards and adheres to those standards.  Conducts work with the highest level of integrity.

Qualifications:

1. Graduated from a recognized nursing school  
2. Knowledge of nutrition programs, especially IMAM and MIYCN.

Experience:

At least 1 year of work experience in a similar position.

Competency:

• Fluency in the local language;
• Strong communication skills
• Good interpersonal skill 
• Excellent listening skills
