Established in 1991 by a group of educated Afghan women in exile, the Afghan Women's Educational Center (AWEC) is a nonprofit, nonsectarian, nonpolitical, and nongovernmental organization dedicated to advocating for and raising awareness about the rights of women and children in Islam.

Since 2002, AWEC has collaborated with women and communities to enhance access to education, health, and vocational services in Afghanistan. Our initiatives extend to livelihood improvement, protection, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), humanitarian aid, grant management, capacity building, social rehabilitation, cohesion, and justice. AWEC has successfully implemented projects in Logar, Faryab, Kapisa, Khost, Panjshir, Wardak, Kabul, Balkh, Herat, Nangarhar, Kandahar, Badakhshan, Parwan, Paktia, Paktika, Laghman, Nuristan, and Bamyan provinces, maintaining an active presence in Kabul, Balkh, Herat, Nangarhar, Kandahar, Badakhshan, Parwan, Paktia, Paktika, Laghman, Nuristan, and Bamyan.

Job Description

The Community Mobilizer Couple is a field-based position responsible for engaging and mobilizing communities to actively participate in project activities, with a specific focus on conflict-affected families. The role focuses on strengthening community participation, trust-building, and outreach, ensuring that vulnerable populations are informed, included, and able to access available services and assistance.

Responsibilities:

Mobilize and engage communities to support project activities through community meetings, household visits, and group discussions.

Identify and reach conflict-affected families, ensuring their inclusion in project interventions.

Build and maintain strong relationships with community leaders, Shuras, CDCs, religious leaders, and key influencers.

Facilitate community meetings, focus group discussions (FGDs), and awareness sessions on available services and community support mechanisms.

Support beneficiary identification, registration, and verification processes in coordination with the project team.

Assist in the distribution of assistance, ensuring transparency and fairness.

Conduct regular household visits and follow-ups to gather feedback and monitor community needs.

Promote community feedback and accountability mechanisms, ensuring concerns and complaints are properly collected and reported.

Support outreach activities to raise awareness about available services, referral pathways, and assistance programs.

Collaborate with other field teams to ensure coordinated service delivery.

Assist in data collection, assessments, and post-distribution monitoring (PDM) activities.

Maintain accurate records, reports, and documentation of field activities.

Ensure inclusive, gender-sensitive, and culturally appropriate engagement with all community members.

Promote a safe, respectful, and non-discriminatory environment in all interactions.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience:

A minimum of Bachelor’s degree in Management, Social Sciences, Community Development and/ or any other related field.

At least 4 years of relevant experience in community mobilization, outreach, social work or field-based project implementation.

Knowledge and Skills:

 

Strong facilitation, communication, and interpersonal skills.

Deep understanding of local cultural norms and community power structures in Afghanistan.

Ability to engage diverse groups, including women and vulnerable populations.

Ability to conduct regular field visits and travel within project areas.

Fluent in Pashto and Dari; English is preferred.
