Job Description

The Poultry Trainer will be responsible for the proper implementation, technical supervision, capacity building, and reporting of poultry-related activities under the project. She will provide technical guidance and support to beneficiaries, community workers, and project staff regarding poultry production, management, disease prevention, feeding, and poultry husbandry practices. The Poultry Trainer will ensure quality implementation of poultry interventions, support beneficiary selection and package distribution processes, and contribute to improving poultry productivity and household livelihoods.

Responsibilities:

Ensure that the implementation of poultry-related activities of the project is technically sound and aligned with project objectives and quality standards.

Develop technical training materials, manuals, and awareness materials related to poultry management and production.

Conduct training sessions and practical demonstrations for poultry beneficiaries in target communities on poultry management practices.

Provide technical guidance to beneficiaries regarding poultry feeding, housing, watering systems, coop construction, disease prevention, vaccination, medication, and improved poultry management practices.

Assess and monitor the quality of poultry feed, poultry houses/shelter, feeders, drinkers, age and type of poultry, and other inputs provided under the project.

Support beneficiaries in adopting improved poultry production techniques to increase productivity and household income generation.

Collect and maintain regular technical data related to poultry production, productivity, mortality rates, feeding practices, vaccination status, medication use, and disease outbreaks.

Identify, report, and follow up on poultry disease outbreaks, mortality cases, and ongoing technical issues in a timely manner.

Conduct regular field visits to target communities for follow-up, monitoring, coaching, and technical support to beneficiaries.

Prepare and submit regular activity reports, progress reports, field updates, and other required documentation to the Project Manager or direct supervisor.

Any other task assigned by the supervisor and senior management.

Job Requirements

Education and Experience:

A minimum of Diploma or bachelor’s degree in animal science, veterinary science or any other related fields.

Certification in training on poultry production, shelter management, poultry rearing, poultry nutrition and vaccination would be a plus point.

A Minimum of years of field level practical experience in poultry production, shelter management, poultry rearing, poultry nutrition, vaccination, disease management, and poultry package distribution with NGOs/ INGOs.

Knowledge and Skills:

Demonstrated experience in conducting community-based trainings and capacity-building activities.

Experience working with women beneficiaries, vulnerable groups, and rural communities preferred.

Strong technical knowledge of poultry farming, poultry diseases, vaccination, feeding systems, and poultry husbandry practices.

Strong interpersonal and communication skills.

Ability to establish and maintain positive working relationships with target communities. Strong facilitation, presentation, and training skills.

Problem-solving and decision-making abilities.

Ability to work in and challenging environments.

Ability to collect, analyze, and report field-level data accurately.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Fluency in written and spoken Dari and Pashto languages; English proficiency preferred.

Good knowledge of intervention areas and local community dynamics.
