It formulates and implements Afghanistan’s foreign policy, represents the nation in bilateral and multilateral engagements, and protects the rights of Afghan citizens abroad. The Ministry oversees embassies, consulates, and diplomatic missions worldwide, working to strengthen Afghanistan’s ties with other countries and international organizations. It also plays a key role in negotiating treaties, coordinating foreign aid, and promoting peace, stability, and economic development through diplomacy.

Job Description

The Center for Strategic Studies (CSS) is seeking a highly qualified and analytical Regional Connectivity & Economic Cooperation Expert. The successful candidate will provide strategic research, policy advice, and technical analysis regarding regional economic integration, trans-regional transport corridors, and Afghanistan’s pivotal role in connecting Central and South Asia.

Job Requirements

  • Strategic Research: Conduct in-depth research and draft policy briefs on regional economic cooperation, trade facilitation, and infrastructure development.
  • Corridor Analysis: Evaluate the viability and impact of regional transport corridors  on Afghanistan’s economy.
  • Policy Advisory: Provide data-driven recommendations to support the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in regional diplomacy and economic statecraft.
  • Education: Master’s degree (or higher) in Economics, International Relations, Public Policy, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 3 years of proven experience in regional economic cooperation, trade policy, or infrastructure development.
  • Core Competencies
    • Deep understanding of regional geopolitics and trans-border economic dynamics.
    • Strong background in analyzing transport corridors and regional connectivity frameworks.
    • Excellent analytical and report-writing skills (samples of published work will be requested).
    • Proficiency in English and national languages (Pashto/Dari).
