Job Description

  • Conduct safeguarding training sessions for project staff, teachers and volunteers.
  • Develop and deliver safeguarding awareness sessions for parents, community leaders, School Shuras, and other stakeholders.
  • Promote awareness of children's rights, child protection principles, and safeguarding responsibilities within project communities.
  • Support the establishment and maintenance of safeguarding reporting and complaint mechanisms.
  • Ensure beneficiaries and community members are aware of available reporting channels and referral pathways.
  • Receive, document, and report safeguarding concerns and incidents in accordance with OCCD policies and procedures.
  • Participate in safeguarding assessments, fact-finding missions, and investigations while maintaining confidentiality and impartiality.
  • Support the safeguarding department and follow-up of safeguarding cases and ensure appropriate referrals are made when necessary.
  • Conduct regular field visits to monitor compliance with safeguarding standards and identify potential safeguarding risks.

·         Serve as the primary safeguarding focal point at the community level, ensuring two-way communication with stakeholders.

  • Provide recommendations and support corrective actions to strengthen safeguarding practices.
  • Maintain safeguarding records, training attendance sheets, awareness session reports, and case documentation.
  • Prepare regular safeguarding reports and updates for safeguarding lead.
  • Support safeguarding risk assessments and the development of mitigation measures.
  • Promote a culture of safeguarding, accountability, and child protection throughout the project.
  • Ensure all project staff understand and comply with OCCD's Safeguarding Policy and Code of Conduct.
  • Perform any other safeguarding-related duties assigned by the safeguarding lead.

 

Job Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Social Sciences, Education, Law, Psychology, Public Administration, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in safeguarding or child protection.
  • Proven experience delivering safeguarding, child protection, or protection-related training.
  • Experience supporting safeguarding investigations, case management, or incident reporting processes.
  • Strong facilitation, communication, and report-writing skills.
  • Ability to handle sensitive information with professionalism and confidentiality.
  • Good understanding of child safeguarding principles and protection standards.
  • Familiarity with the local context and communities in Kunar Province is preferred.
  • Fluency in English, Pashto and Dari is required.
