Job Description

How can you make a difference?

The Driver provides reliable and safe driving services while ensuring compliance with local traffic rules and UNICEF protocols. 

Drivers are expected to demonstrate the highest standards of professionalism, discretion, integrity, adaptability and protocol awareness.  They are also expected to support administrative tasks and engage in self-directed learning during non-driving periods.The Driver demonstrates a client-oriented approach, courtesy, tact, a high sense of responsibility, and the ability to work effectively with people of diverse national and cultural backgrounds.

  4. Trip Documentation and Reporting
  5. Communication and Emergency Readiness
  6. Support Office Operations During Idle Periods

Job Requirements

Minimum requirements:

  • Education: A Secondary Education is required, along with a valid driver's license and knowledge of local driving rules and regulations.
  • Work Experience: At least 2 years of relevant work experience as an armoured vehicle driver in an international organization, embassy or UN system with a safe driving record is required. 
  • Skills: Excellent skills in road safety, travel coordination, protocol, transportation and fleet management is required.
  • Language Requirements: Fluency in English is required and local language of the duty station, Pashto and Dari.

Desirables:

  • Language: Knowledge of another official UN language (Arabic, Chinese, French, Russian or Spanish).
  • Knowledge of both local languages is highly desirable. Previous QDT training, Armoured Vehicle training, UN system experience is considered an asset.
  • Relevant experience at country level, particularly in development, fragile settings and humanitarian contexts.
