About NSIA

Creating a methodical unit system, coordination of statistical activities, registration of statistical, population and Geographic Information for that purpose General Statistics and Information Authority (GSIA) operates as an independent government institution at the country level.

General Statistics and Information Authority (GSIA) which was previously known as the central Statistics Administration, in 1972, it was established as an independent department within the framework of the government.

The GSIA now has three deputy director general offices and one general directorate (The Deputy Director General Office for Statistics, Civil Registration and Finance and Administrative Affairs)

The GSIA has 30 directorates and legal consultant within its structure in the center and has offices which operate in 34 provinces of the country under the name of the Statistics and Information Directorate.

The Deputy Director General Office for Statistics is responsible for strengthening and standardizing of the statistical system, developing and improving statistical initiatives for producing and presenting quality data in various economic and social fields.

The Office of Deputy Director General for Civil Registration which within GSIA is the only authority for registering civil and vital information of the citizens in the country which verifies identities. The directorate presents valuable services to citizens, so that they play a constructive role in bringing positive change and good governance in the country.

The Deputy Director General Office for Finance and Administrative Affairs is responsible for human resources issues, services, procurement and finance matter within GSIA and it also helps the technical branched of the GSIA.

Meanwhile, the General Directorate for Geo Spatial Information management collects, stores and manages geographical information of the country. Collection of the information takes place at national level utilizing most up to date technology such as the remote sensing and the Geographical Information System (GIS).

GSIA, as a national institution, is committed to providing fast, quality and equal services to all citizens and national and internation al institutions.

Job Description

Job Summary

Accurately complete electronic questionnaires for household listing and sample households, and prepare a complete list of all residential and non-residential units in the assigned area.

The General Directorate of Statistics and Information will conduct household listing and the census of children under five years old in Kandahar Province.

For this work, the General Directorate of Statistics and Information is hiring qualified surveyors who meet the required conditions.


Duties and Responsibilities

  • Actively participate in surveyor training courses to learn the survey methods.
  • Take part in survey activities as a surveyor and perform the work with commitment.
  • Check the tablet and all required materials before going to the field and make sure they are complete and working properly.
  • Conduct the survey according to the instructions in the surveyor guide.
  • Number building doors and accurately list all residential and non-residential units without missing or adding any units.
  • Visit all sample households assigned by the system and conduct complete and accurate interviews.
  • Regularly report field activities to the relevant controller.
  • Make sure all questionnaires from the assigned teams are fully submitted to the central server.

Job Requirements

  • Job Duration & Benefits: Full-time for one month, with daily payment and travel allowance according to the policy of the General Directorate of Statistics and Information.
  • Select the district where you currently live when applying.
  • Minimum high school (Baccalaureate) education is required; higher education is preferred.
  • Must be ready to work full-time during the survey and work extra hours when needed.
  • Must be familiar with the geographical and social conditions of the area.
  • Must be able to travel to all districts of Kandahar Province, especially remote areas.
  • Must have good physical ability and be ready to perform the assigned duties.
  • Must be able to use a computer, smartphone, and tablet.
  • Must follow the data protection rules and policies of the General Directorate of Statistics and Information and the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan.
  • The applicant must not have another official job. If the applicant has another official job, they will be responsible for all related legal and administrative matters.

Preference for Applicants with Work Experience and Technical Skills:

  • Preference will be given to applicants with relevant experience and skills.
  • Applicants must be fluent in both official languages, Pashto and Dari.
