The organization is committed to empowering vulnerable communities, with a focus on women, children, youth, internally displaced persons (IDPs), and returnees. GWO’s leadership reflects this commitment, with women holding the majority of management positions and a staff composition of approximately 66% female and 34% male employees.

GWO delivers targeted interventions across a wide range of thematic areas, including health, nutrition, psychosocial support, and community awareness, as well as women’s empowerment, education, livelihoods, agriculture, environment, climate change, WASH, protection, community development, and humanitarian response. Job Description

Reports To: Admin/Finance Manager

Purpose of the Position

The Volunteer Admin/Finance Intern will provide day-to-day administrative and basic finance support to Green Way Organization. The intern will work closely with the Administration and Finance team to ensure that organizational records, financial documents, office files, and administrative processes are maintained accurately, systematically, and in accordance with GWO policies and procedures.

The position is intended as a learning and professional development opportunity while providing meaningful support to the organization's operations.

Key Responsibilities:

  1. Assist the Finance team in organizing and maintaining financial documents and supporting documentation.
  2. Assist with filing payment vouchers, receipts, invoices, attendance sheets, and other financial records.
  3. Support the preparation and organization of financial documents for review and verification.
  4. Assist with recording routine financial transactions under the supervision of the Finance Officer.
  5. Support the Finance team in maintaining accurate and up-to-date financial filing systems.
  6. Assist in checking invoices, receipts, and other supporting documents for completeness.
  7. Help organize documents required for internal reviews, audits, and donor reporting.
  8. Assist with basic data entry into Excel or relevant accounting/financial systems.
  9. Support the preparation of simple financial summaries and spreadsheets when requested.
  10. Maintain confidentiality of financial and organizational information at all times.
  11. Provide general administrative assistance to the office team.
  12. Assist in maintaining physical and electronic administrative filing systems.
  13. Support the preparation, photocopying, scanning, printing, and organization of official documents.
  14. Assist with maintaining office records, inventories, and administrative databases.
  15. Support the organization of meetings, workshops, and other office activities.
  16. Assist in maintaining attendance and other routine administrative records.
  17. Support communication and coordination with staff and relevant service providers when required.
  18. Assist with office supplies monitoring and documentation.
  19. Support basic procurement and logistics documentation under the supervision of the relevant staff.
  20. Perform other reasonable administrative duties assigned by the supervisor.

Data and Documentation

  • Enter and update administrative and financial information accurately.
  • Maintain organized electronic and hard-copy records.
  • Assist with data verification and identification of missing or incomplete documentation.
  • Ensure documents are properly labeled, filed, and easily retrievable.
  • Support the preparation of documents for management review.

Job Requirements

Education

  • Fresh graduate in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, Economics, Management, or a related field.
  • Candidates with relevant vocational or professional training may also be considered.

Technical Skills

  • Basic knowledge of accounting and financial principles.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Word and Microsoft Excel.
  • Ability to maintain organized files and records.
  • Basic understanding of financial documentation and data entry.
  • Familiarity with accounting software is an advantage.

Languages

  • Good command of Dari and/or Pashto.
  • Working knowledge of English is highly desirable.

Working conditions:

The position is voluntary and unpaid and no payment for top-up card or transportation cost unless otherwise specified by GWO. Any applicable, communication, or other support will be provided only in accordance with GWO's internal policies and available resources.

Where feasible, the intern may receive a certificate of internship/volunteer service upon successful completion of the assignment.

The Volunteer Interns must comply with all applicable GWO policies, procedures, and standards, including those relating to:

The intern must not disclose, copy, share, or use confidential personnel or organizational information for unauthorized purposes during or after the internship.

Safeguarding, Ethics, and Confidentiality

The Volunteer Intern is expected to comply fully with GWO's safeguarding, protection, code of conduct, confidentiality, and other relevant organizational policies.

The intern must:

  • Treat all beneficiaries, volunteers, staff, and community members with dignity and respect.
  • Maintain confidentiality of organizational and personal information.
  • Avoid any form of discrimination, harassment, exploitation, or abuse.
  • Immediately report safeguarding or protection concerns through established organizational reporting mechanisms.
  • Use organizational information, photographs, and personal data only for authorized purposes.
  • Conduct themselves professionally and ethically at all times.

Duration and Time Commitment

The internship will initially be for three months, the start and ending date will subject to mutual agreement.

The specific working schedule and number of hours per week will be agreed between GWO and the selected volunteer, taking into consideration organizational needs and the volunteer's availability.

The internship may be extended by mutual agreement based on performance, organizational requirements, and availability.

Compensation and Benefits

This is a voluntary, unpaid internship position. No salary or employment benefits will be provided unless otherwise agreed in writing.

There will be a rotate system of learning in all departments for the intern   

Subject to organizational capacity and applicable policies, Green Way Organization may provide:

  • Practical experience in NGO communications and social media, admin/finance, logistics, program and HR management.
  • Mentorship and professional guidance.
  • Opportunities to participate in relevant organizational activities and events.
  • A certificate or letter of internship/voluntary service upon successful completion, subject to satisfactory performance.
  • Opportunities to develop a professional portfolio of approved work.

Any reimbursement for approved work-related expenses must receive prior authorization from GOW.

GWO has a zero tolerance policy with regard to Sexual Exploitation and Abuse and “All forms of sexual exploitation and abuse are incompatible with the universally accepted norms, values, principles and standards that underpin our SOFAR.
