Afghan Family Guidance Association (AFGA) is an Afghan non-governmental, not-for-profit and non-political organization established in 1968. AFGA has been working in the field of Reproductive health and Rights since its inception and has recently become an associate member of the International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF).

AFGA activities were suspended due to war and conflict in the country for ten years (1992-2002) and resumed its activities in 2002 with financial support from International Planned Parenthood Federation (IPPF).

IPPF is an alliance of 151 family planning associations known as Member Associations which has projects in over 180 countries. IPPF continues to be the largest civil society provider of reproductive health information and services in the world

Job Summary:

As the main aim of AFGA's humanitarian response, health facilities are improving RMNCAH services in hard-to-reach areas of the country. The responsibility of the expert Gynecologist /Female Medical is to treat, counsel, and prescribe the female patients coming to the clinic in the affected area. She will be providing services to the clients according to the AFGA rules and regulations.

Specific Responsibilities:

• Collect, record, and maintain patient information, such as medical histories, reports, and examination results.
• Conduct proper physical examinations of patients, including pelvic and breast examinations
• Perform routine office-based obstetric and gynecological procedures, including IUDs, etc.
• Establish and follow standards of care for common women’s health-related issues and illnesses, especially antenatal and post-natal care, and provide family planning
• Educate patients and deliver health education sessions for women as and when needed
• Monitor and ensure compliance with clinical evidence-based guidelines while treating patients all the time
• Determine and implement appropriate types and courses of treatment
• Perform standard ultrasound examinations and produce related reports
• Perform and interpret various diagnostic tests, including STD tests.
• Educate patients about disease prevention, detection (malignancies of reproductive organs), and reproductive health
• Be able to work as a primary care doctor (general physician) as and when needed /dealing with a wide range of patients
• Have the ability to develop positive rapport with patients and families to foster the physician/patient relationship
• Eager to actively participate in continuing medical education programs inside the clinic, / delivers case presentations, and raise medical discussions.
• Take care of the equipment assigned to the clinic, including the computer, desk, chair, statoscope, and ensure their proper usage
• Respect all rules and regulations of the AFGA.
• Make all necessary efforts to stay updated with the emerging medical/Obstetric knowledge and skills

• Graduated from recognize medical university.
• Completion of specialization in the principles of Gynecology and Obstetrics
• Having proven 3-5 years of clinical experience working as a clinical specialist in the field of Gynecology and Obstetrics on secondary or tertiary health services level.
• High scale of communication and ability.
• Ability to speak Dari and Pushto languages is a must, and knowledge of the English language is desirable.
• Ability of using computer office package is a plus point.
• Having similar work experience is a plus point.
