Established in 1991 by a group of educated Afghan women in exile, the Afghan Women's Educational Center (AWEC) is a nonprofit, nonsectarian, nonpolitical, and nongovernmental organization dedicated to advocating for and raising awareness about the rights of women and children in Islam.

Since 2002, AWEC has collaborated with women and communities to enhance access to education, health, and vocational services in Afghanistan. Our initiatives extend to livelihood improvement, protection, Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), humanitarian aid, grant management, capacity building, social rehabilitation, cohesion, and justice. AWEC has successfully implemented projects in Logar, Faryab, Kapisa, Khost, Panjshir, Wardak, Kabul, Balkh, Herat, Nangarhar, Kandahar, Badakhshan, Parwan, Paktia, Paktika, Laghman, Nuristan, and Bamyan provinces, maintaining an active presence in Kabul, Balkh, Herat, Nangarhar, Kandahar, Badakhshan, Parwan, Paktia, Paktika, Laghman, Nuristan, and Bamyan.

The Couple Data Enumerators will support the Monitoring and Evaluation (M&E) Unit in conducting various data collection activities, including baseline and endline assessments, Post-Distribution Monitoring (PDM), impact evaluations, needs assessments, and other data collection exercises as required. The role is intended to ensure the accurate, timely, ethical, and high-quality collection of data from targeted communities in accordance with approved methodologies, tools, and protocols.

The data enumerators will be recruited through a roster-based approach, be available under AWEC’s contract in short term and part time basis, and called for engagement on as-needed basis, depending on the scope and requirements of each activity in to relevant geographical areas.

AWEC is looking to recruit 2 couple data enumerator in each designated province indicated in this announcement.

Responsibilities:

Conduct various data collection activities including baseline and endline assessments, Post-Distribution Monitoring (PDM), impact evaluations, needs assessments, and other data collection exercises as required

Collect quantitative and qualitative data from beneficiaries using approved questionnaires and tools (paper-based or digital).

Ensure accuracy, completeness, and confidentiality of collected data.

Follow data collection methodologies, guidelines, and ethical standards set by the M&E team.

Participate in training sessions related to data collection tools and methodologies.

Submit completed questionnaires and reports on time to the M&E Manager or assigned supervisor.

Report any challenges, inconsistencies, or field issues during data collection.

Coordinate with field teams and community representatives to facilitate smooth data collection.

Coordinate with local authorities for data collection activity as required.

Respect cultural sensitivities and ensure respectful interaction with beneficiaries.

Education and Experience:

A minimum of high school graduation; bachelor’s degree in social sciences, statistics, development studies, or a related field is an advantage.

A minimum of 1 year of experience in data collection, surveys, or field monitoring (experience in humanitarian or NGO projects preferably in PDM, assessments, or evaluations is a strong asset.

Experience working in remote areas or vulnerable communities is desirable.

Skills:

Strong communication and interpersonal skills.

Ability to collect accurate data and follow instructions carefully.

Basic knowledge of data collection tools (Kobo, ODK, or similar) is an advantage.

Ability to work independently and under pressure in field conditions.

Fluency in local languages (Dari and/or Pashto); basic English is an asset.

Strong sense of integrity, confidentiality, and professionalism.
