Web Developer Fellow (Female Only)

Aseel Technology Corporation, through its Afghan Women in Tech Leadership (AWTL) Fellowship and in partnership with Omid Foundation, seeks a Web Developer Fellow to support resource mobilization for Omid Foundation AidOS.

The fellow will work closely with OMID’s Head of Development on the development, implementation, and continuous improvement of the OMID AID Marketplace, a Shopify-based marketplace integrated into OMID’s new website and developed in collaboration with Aseel.

The position is designed for a motivated young professional interested in web development, e-commerce, AI, and humanitarian innovation. The fellow will gain hands-on experience by contributing to a real digital platform designed to connect commerce, technology, and social impact.

What you need to bring: 

Education

·        Bachelor’s Degree or ongoing higher education in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, Web Development, E-Commerce, or a related field; equivalent practical experience may also be considered. 

Professional Experience

·        Previous practical experience in web development, e-commerce, digital platforms, or related technology projects through employment, internships, academic projects, freelance work, or volunteering is preferred. As this is an early-career fellowship, extensive professional experience is not required.

Technical Skills

·        Basic knowledge of HTML, CSS, and web technologies.

·         Familiarity with Shopify or another e-commerce/CMS platform.

·         Interest in or experience with AI-assisted development tools.

·        Understanding of responsive/mobile-first web design.

·        Ability to learn new digital tools and platforms quickly.

·        Familiarity with Git/GitHub, JavaScript, APIs, Shopify Liquid, or similar technologies would be an advantage but is not mandatory.

Language Skills

·        Good working knowledge of English, written and spoken

·        Fluency in Dari and/or Pashto is an advantage.

  7.  Desirable Qualifications (Optional)
•            Previous experience with Shopify or Shopify development.
•         Familiarity with AI coding/development tools.
•         Experience with UX/UI design or tools such as Figma.
•            Basic understanding of e-commerce operations and digital payments.
•         Previous involvement in a nonprofit, startup, social enterprise, or technology project.
•           Interest in developing digital solutions for Afghanistan.
  
  8.  Learning and Development Opportunity

As part of the 50 Afghan Women in Tech Program, fellows receive ongoing mentorship, technical training, and exposure to international best practices in marketing, e-commerce, and humanitarian innovation. The host organization is expected to provide day-to-day guidance, meaningful assignments, and a supportive working environment that allows the fellow to build practical, transferable skills.
