DG Maintenance Technician - Telecom Sites

Honest Public Ltd (HPL) is an Afghan company delivering technical, operations and support services to telecom operators and international organisations across Afghanistan.

HPL is building a talent pool of DG (diesel generator) Maintenance Technicians for a nationwide telecom network operation and maintenance (O&M) managed-services project. Technicians service and repair the generators, controllers and changeover panels that power mobile network sites in their province.

Key responsibilities

• Carry out scheduled running-hour services on telecom-site generator sets (typically every 250 to 300 hours), including engine oil, oil and fuel filters, air filter, water separator, belts and coolant.
• Carry out major periodic services, including valve adjustment, radiator cleaning, and control-panel and safety-shutdown tests.
• Maintain and troubleshoot DG controllers and AMF/ATS changeover panels.
• Record running hours and fuel levels, check fuel-system seals, and report fuel leaks or misuse.
• Support the heavy-lift crew in removing, installing and replacing DG sets and engines.
• Respond to generator call-outs and submit service reports with photos and videos.

Working conditions

Candidates must live in the province they apply for. Shift work, including nights and weekends, on a 24/7 standby and call-out rota, with travel to remote sites in all weather.

• Trade certificate or diploma in diesel mechanics or electrical installation.
• At least 3 years of experience servicing diesel generator sets, preferably at telecom sites.
• Hands-on experience with diesel engines (e.g. Perkins), DG controllers (e.g. DSE, ComAp) and AMF/ATS changeover panels.
• Able to use a multimeter and clamp meter, and to prepare digital service reports on a smartphone.
• Fluent Dari and/or Pashto; a driving licence is an advantage.

Eligibility

Current employees of HPL's client operators, and serving public officials or employees of state-owned companies (including the national power utility), are not eligible for this pool. Joining the talent pool is not an offer of employment.
