R&D Officer / Engineer

Haji Mohammad Nader Khapalwak Ltd. was established by national businessman Haji Mohammad Nader Khapalwak in Kandahar in 1989. Initially, the company operated as an importing firm, focusing on agricultural machinery, equipment, and related goods.

In 2015, the company established a production division to manufacture agricultural machinery and equipment locally. Since then, the company has produced hundreds of agricultural machines to support Afghan farmers.

Haji Mohammad Nader Khapalwak Ltd. is also the exclusive distributor of TAFE India agricultural tractors in Afghanistan, supplying a range of tractors to support the agricultural sector.

Under the corporate governance structure, the group includes Haji Mohammad Nader Khapalwak Ltd., which focuses primarily on the import and export of agricultural machinery and equipment, and Haji Mohammad Nader Khapalwak Production Company, which focuses on local manufacturing of agricultural machinery and equipment.

Haji Mohammad Nader Khapalwak Ltd. is seeking a qualified and motivated R&D Officer / Engineer to support the development, design, testing, and improvement of agricultural machinery and implements.

The R&D Officer will be responsible for developing practical and cost-effective agricultural equipment, preparing engineering designs and drawings, developing prototypes, conducting field testing, and improving existing products based on technical requirements and customer feedback.

The position requires a practical engineering approach and close coordination with the Production, Engineering, and Management teams.

Key Responsibilities

·        Develop new agricultural implements and machinery.

·        Design and develop 2D/3D CAD models and technical drawings.

·        Prepare product specifications and technical documentation.

·        Select suitable materials and components based on performance, durability, availability, and cost.

·        Design and improve hydraulic and mechanical systems.

·        Develop prototypes and conduct technical trials.

·        Conduct field testing and evaluate machine performance.

·        Improve existing products based on field feedback, testing results, and customer requirements.

·        Identify opportunities for cost reduction and design optimization.

·        Prepare and maintain Bills of Materials (BOMs).

·        Prepare, review, and revise engineering drawings.

·        Manage design changes, revisions, and technical documentation.

·        Research new technologies, materials, components, and manufacturing methods.

·        Work closely with the Production and Engineering teams to ensure successful implementation of designs.

·        Identify technical problems during production or field use and develop practical engineering solutions.

·        Maintain proper records of designs, prototypes, testing results, and product modifications.

·        Perform other R&D and engineering duties assigned by management.

Qualifications and Requirements

·        Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Agricultural Engineering, Mechatronics Engineering, or a related field.

·        Minimum 3 years of relevant professional experience in R&D, product development, mechanical design, agricultural machinery, or manufacturing.

·        Strong practical knowledge of mechanical systems and agricultural machinery.

·        Experience in hydraulic system design and mechanical engineering is highly desirable.

·        Strong skills in 2D/3D CAD software, such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or similar.

·        Ability to prepare and interpret engineering drawings and technical specifications.

·        Experience in prototype development and product testing.

·        Good understanding of materials, manufacturing processes, and mechanical components.

·        Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

·        Ability to work independently and as part of a technical team.

·        Willingness to conduct field visits and practical machine testing.

·        Good communication and reporting skills.

·        Knowledge of English and/ or Dari, Pashto is preferred.
