We are seeking a meticulous, commercially minded Logistics Officer to coordinate the end-to-end movement of
cargo across our supply chain, from supplier origin to the final customer. The successful candidate will
safeguard delivery performance, cost efficiency, regulatory compliance and inventory accuracy, acting as the
central point of coordination between suppliers, freight forwarders, carriers, customs authorities, warehouse
teams and customers.
This is a high-accountability role suited to a proactive professional who thrives in a time-sensitive,
multi-stakeholder environment and can anticipate disruption before it affects service.
Key Responsibilities
1. Cargo Movement Coordination
• Plan, schedule and coordinate inbound and outbound cargo movements across road, sea, air and
multimodal channels.
• Select and instruct carriers and freight forwarders in line with service, cost and risk criteria.
• Prepare and verify shipping documentation, including commercial invoices, packing lists, bills of lading /
airway bills and certificates of origin.
• Optimise load planning, consolidation and routing to reduce cost per unit and improve vehicle and container
utilisation.
2. Cargo Tracking and Arrival Management
• Monitor shipments in real time using tracking systems, carrier portals and direct carrier communication.
• Maintain accurate ETAs and issue timely status updates to internal stakeholders and customers.
• Plan receiving capacity, labour and equipment ahead of each arrival.
• Escalate delays, diversions and exceptions immediately, proposing corrective action and contingency
routing.
3. Supplier and Supply Chain Touchpoint Management
• Act as the primary operational contact for suppliers at every critical node: order confirmation, production
readiness, pick-up, port of loading and handover.
• Confirm cargo readiness, quantities and documentation prior to dispatch.
• Track supplier performance (on-time-in-full, lead-time adherence, documentation accuracy) and recommend
improvements.
• Identify supply chain bottlenecks and risks, and work with procurement to mitigate them.
4. Loading and In-Transit Oversight
• Supervise or verify loading operations to ensure correct quantities, secure stowage, appropriate packaging
and safe handling.
• Check load integrity, seals, temperature requirements and dangerous-goods compliance where applicable.
• Follow cargo throughout transit, resolving incidents such as breakdowns, port congestion, damage or theft,
and coordinating insurance claims where required.
5. Customs Clearance and Regulatory Compliance
• Coordinate import and export clearance with customs brokers and authorities, ensuring accurate tariff
classification, valuation and declarations.
• Ensure all permits, licences and certifications are in place before shipment arrival.
• Manage duties, taxes and demurrage/detention exposure, acting to minimise storage and penalty costs.
• Keep abreast of changes in trade regulations, Incoterms and customs procedures, and maintain audit-ready
records.
6. Warehouse Management
• Oversee receiving, put-away, storage, picking, packing and dispatch to agreed service levels.
• Ensure optimal space utilisation, correct bin/location control and adherence to FIFO/FEFO principles.
• Enforce health, safety and housekeeping standards, and manage warehouse staff and third-party operators.
• Conduct regular cycle counts and full stock-takes, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
7. Stock Reporting and Inventory Control
• Prepare accurate daily, weekly and monthly stock reports, reconciling physical stock with system records.
• Analyse stock levels, ageing, movement and turnover, flagging slow-moving, obsolete or at-risk items.
• Provide inventory data to support demand planning, replenishment and financial reporting.
• Maintain data integrity within the ERP/WMS system.
8. Shortage and Discrepancy Management
• Identify, document and investigate shortages, overages and damages at receipt and during storage.
• Conduct root-cause analysis and agree corrective and preventive actions with suppliers, carriers and
internal teams.
• Raise claims and manage resolution with suppliers, carriers and insurers.
• Coordinate urgent replenishment and alternative sourcing to protect customer commitments.
9. Last-Mile Delivery Management
• Plan and dispatch delivery routes to meet customer time windows at optimal cost.
• Manage in-house fleet or third-party couriers, tracking performance and compliance with service standards.
• Ensure proof of delivery is captured and processed, and manage failed deliveries and returns.
• Serve as escalation point for customer delivery queries, safeguarding satisfaction and service quality.
10. Reporting, Continuous Improvement and Cost Control
• Produce regular KPI reports covering on-time delivery, order accuracy, transit time, freight cost, damage
rate and inventory accuracy.
• Reconcile freight and logistics invoices, challenging discrepancies.
• Identify and implement process improvements, cost savings and technology enhancements.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and health, safety and environmental
