Job Description

Position Overview:

The Head Dispatcher is a key leadership role within the Production & Transportation Department, responsible for managing and coordinating all dispatching operations related to the transportation and logistics of crude oil within the oilfield. The role ensures that all dispatching activities are carried out efficiently and safely, maintaining optimal coordination between production, transportation, and operations teams. The Head Dispatcher supervises a team of dispatchers and ensures compliance with company policies, safety standards, and industry regulations. This position demands extensive experience in logistics management, an in-depth understanding of crude oil transportation operations, and excellent communication and coordination skills.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Dispatching Operations Management
    • Oversee the scheduling and dispatching of crude oil transportation, ensuring that logistics operations are performed efficiently and in line with production schedules.
    • Plan, coordinate, and monitor the movement of crude oil from production units to storage facilities, refineries, or export points.
    • Ensure optimal utilization of transportation resources, minimizing delays, and improving overall operational efficiency.
    • Monitor and track transportation activities, using advanced logistics and tracking software to ensure all dispatches are executed on time and safely.
  • Team Supervision & Coordination
    • Lead a team of dispatchers, providing guidance, support, and training to ensure high performance and compliance with dispatching standards.
    • Communicate effectively with drivers, operators, production teams, and external stakeholders to manage logistics operations seamlessly.
    • Coordinate with the production team to ensure that dispatching activities align with production goals and schedules.
  • Logistics & Transportation Optimization
    • Develop and implement strategies for optimizing transportation routes and schedules, minimizing costs, and maximizing efficiency.
    • Analyze dispatching data and performance metrics to identify opportunities for process improvements and implement best practices.
    • Troubleshoot logistics issues and resolve any operational challenges that may arise, ensuring uninterrupted transportation operations.
  • Safety & Compliance
    • Ensure that all dispatching and transportation activities comply with company safety standards, environmental regulations, and industry best practices.
    • Conduct regular safety briefings and compliance checks with dispatching teams to promote a culture of safety and accountability.
    • Monitor the condition of vehicles and equipment used for crude oil transportation, ensuring they meet safety and performance standards.
  • Reporting & Documentation
    • Prepare and maintain detailed records of all dispatching activities, including schedules, vehicle logs, and incident reports.
    • Generate daily, weekly, and monthly dispatching performance reports, highlighting key metrics, operational achievements, and areas for improvement.
    • Document and report any incidents, non-compliance cases, or operational inefficiencies to the Production Manager and other relevant departments.
  • Stakeholder Management
    • Serve as the primary point of contact for all dispatching-related inquiries and issues, providing timely and effective resolutions.
    • Collaborate with production, transportation, and maintenance teams to develop and implement dispatching strategies that support overall production goals.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education

  • Bachelor’s degree in Logistics Management, Transportation Engineering, or a related technical field.
  • Additional qualifications or certifications in oil and gas logistics or supply chain management will be an advantage.

Minimum Experience

  • At least 7 years of experience in logistics or dispatch management, preferably in the oil and gas industry.
  • Proven track record of managing large-scale transportation and logistics operations, with a focus on crude oil dispatching.

Specialty

  • In-depth knowledge of crude oil transportation logistics, dispatching systems, and operational best practices within the oil and gas sector.
  • Strong understanding of safety standards, environmental regulations, and compliance requirements specific to oil and gas transportation.

Language and Computer Skills

  • Proficient in English and local languages, with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong computer skills, including experience with logistics management software, MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), and dispatch tracking systems.
