Job Descriptions:

Job Summary:

District livestock officer is responsible to deliver quality livestock capacity building training workshops to the group of targeted beneficiaries in different villages of selected districts.

Major Areas of Responsibility

District livestock officer is  responsibilities include ordering equipment that is necessary for the training, developing the manual of the training, and scheduling the trainings.

Responsibilities of the Job:

  • District livestock officer is responsible to lead and manage all livestock activities in targeted districts.
  • Mobilize communities in line with project objectives and conduct assessments in targeted communities to identify eligible project livestock owner groups for the project.
  • To prepare training manuals and other training materials for training of the beneficiaries regarding livestock management.
  • Train targeted groups regarding livestock keeping.
  • To provide proper weekly and monthly plans for project activities.
  • Briefly train livestock owner groups regarding deworming, medicine usage, benefits of vaccine, and administration of vaccine vaccines stock disease prevention.
  • Conduct technical training on appropriate animal health and welfare practices to livestock owner group members in each district (including animal handling, housing, and feeding, identifying the disbands use, and seeking treatment).
  • Train targeted livestock group regarding personal and environmental hygiene, housing, water sanitation, dairy processing, and health care issues.
  • Conduct regular monitoring of livestock production, status stables, and livestock treatment process.
  • Establish livestock owner groups in each targeted community.
  • Collect the necessary data and information to keep track of the change in attitudes and practices of target livestock owner groups in targeted communities.
  • Conduct regular Meetings with targeted livestock owner groups and to ensure a proper coordination network is established.
  • Develop and submit accurate weekly and monthly reports to the project manager and these reports should include technical social and impact information.
  • Develop high-quality donor reports on livestock-related activities conducting in the field, that is contributing to the project donor reports as required.
  • Coordinate with livestock owner group’s members receive awareness-raising education sessions on animal health and welfare and the benefits of investing in animal health, conducted jointly by project staff, DAIL staff, and Para vets.
  • Facilitate cash and NFI kits distributions to targeted livestock groups.
  • Any other duties assigned by project manager.

  • The district livestock officer should have a bachelor degree in the field of Livestock Management.
  • 3 years’ training experience in the field of livestock management.
  • Working experience with NGOs in related fields will be preferred.
  •  (Preference will be given to whom with working experience abroad).
  • Demonstrated experience in conducting livestock owner training for livestock owners’ group.
  • Good spoken and written skills in English, Pashto and Dari Languages and possess good skills in report writing.
