Alongside the Ministry of Public Health, AFGA has been working in the field of Reproductive Health since its inception. About Hospital:

AFGA is in the process of establishment of a 20-bed hospital in Kabul, aimed at providing quality Reproductive Health services to mothers and newborns. The hospital will be fully equipped with modern medical equipment, facilities and staffed by experts.

As part of a long-term development plan, hospital services will continuously expand, serving as the central hub for AFGA outreach and small Service Delivery Points (SDPs) to refer patients needing advanced care. The hospital will adhere to national and international standards for patient safety and quality service, ensuring it meets the needs of target communities.

Job Descriptions:

Job Summary:

The gynecology/obstetrics specialist is responsible for performing emergency and critical surgeries, responding promptly to gynecological and obstetrical emergencies, and ensuring the provision of high-quality care to patients in accordance with MOPH/EPHS standards. The specialist will collaborate with the medical team to manage complicated cases, maintain accurate documentation, and contribute to staff training and capacity-building efforts.

Responsibilities:

  • Responding promptly to calls for urgent gynecological or obstetrical issues, such as severe bleeding, preterm labor, or other complications.
  • Determining if hospitalization or immediate surgical intervention is required.
  • She will respond to emergency phones from hospital on time and will be well prepared for arriving to the hospital on time
  • To ensure provision of quality and standard Gyn/Obs care and services based on MoPH/EPHS standards, and performing initial assessment, stabilization, and treatment for patients as needed
  • Follow up the care of high risk and complicated obstetrics and gynecology cases.
  • Perform lifesaving and emergency measures on the patient including maternal resuscitation and cardio pulmonary resuscitation.
  • Ensure that all procedures relating to infection prevention are followed.
  • Ensure all patient documentation records are completed.
  • To ensure hygiene and infection prevention measures in ward and safe deal with waste and sharps.
  • To ensure proper diagnosis of Gyn/Obs Patients and standard treatment including controlling over mis prescription.
  • To ensure all physical diagnostic steps such as history taking, examination, investigation and health education are followed by doctors with each individual case.
  • To ensure that patients files are properly followed/ filed by doctors and nurses.
  • To plan technical seminars, provision of on-the-job training and upgrade technical capacity of the staff.
  • Attend all Gyn/Obs related consultancies and second call as per need.
  • Support and ensure on time referral and investigate death case and submit technical reasons and defenses for death.
  • To ensure that all standards form, patient files, emergency stock/equipment and other supplies are existed, functioning, and according to HMIS forms
  • To ensure popper implementation of HMIS and hospital standards according to EPHS
  • Being accessible and responsive to calls from other healthcare providers, emergency departments, or patients during designated on-call hours.
  • any other relevant task given by AFGA and line management.

 

Job Requirements:

  • MD degree and having specialization on Gyn/Obs approved by MOPH
  • Proficiency in performing common gynaecological and obstetrical procedures such as caesarean sections, hysterectomies, and so on.
  • Having certified ultrasound degree with Strong diagnostic and clinical decision-making abilities.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills to work effectively with patients, nurses, and other healthcare providers
  • Ability to provide on-call as 24/7 coverage and respond promptly to emergencies gynaecological and obstetrical issues.
  • 2-5 years’ experience as obstetrician and gynaecology specialist in hospital
  • fluent in Pashto Dari and good knowledge in English
  • excellent interpersonal skills and ability to work and deal successfully in a multi-cultural environment
