Job Descriptions:

Job Summary: The Fundraising Manager will work under the supervision of the Executive Director in MHCO's country office in Kabul, Afghanistan, and will lead the fundraising department of MHCO. The Fundraising Manager will be responsible for identifying funding opportunities, building partnerships, writing compelling grant proposals, and leading fundraising initiatives to support the organization’s programs. This role will ensure that MHCO maximizes its funding potential through strategic donor engagement, innovative fundraising strategies, and high-quality proposal development.

Key Responsibilities:

Fundraising & Business Development

  • Develop and implement a fundraising strategy to diversify funding sources (grants, partnerships, corporate sponsorships, and individual donations).
  • Identify and cultivate relationships with potential donors, including international organizations, bilateral and multilateral agencies, foundations, and private sector entities.
  • Research and analyze funding trends and opportunities relevant to MHCO’s thematic areas.
  • Lead the development of fundraising campaigns, events, and online fundraising initiatives.
  • Build partnerships with local and international NGOs, UN and government agencies to enhance funding prospects.

Proposal Writing & Grant Management

  • Identify relevant funding opportunities, including calls for proposals, requests for proposals (RFPs), and direct donor funding channels.
  • Lead the development of high-quality grant proposals, concept notes, and business plans in line with donor requirements and MHCO priorities.
  • Coordinate with program teams to gather technical inputs, financial projections, and sustainability plans for proposals.
  • Ensure timely submission of proposals and compliance with donor guidelines.
  • Support program teams in donor reporting, ensuring compliance with grant agreements.

 

Strategic Donor Engagement

  • Develop and maintain a donor database with key contacts, funding timelines, and engagement strategies.
  • Represent MHCO in donor meetings, funding forums, and networking events.
  • Prepare and deliver presentations, briefs, and promotional materials to attract donors.

Capacity Building & Internal Coordination

  • Train and mentor staff on proposal writing, donor engagement, and business development strategies.
  • Work closely with program, finance, and M&E teams to align funding proposals with organizational objectives.
  • Ensure fundraising efforts align with organizational priorities and donor compliance requirements.

Job Requirements:

Qualifications and Experience

  • Education: Bachelor's/Master’s degree in Business Administration, International Development, Communications, or a related field.
  • Experience: Minimum 7 years of experience in fundraising, business development, or grant writing for NGOs.

Skills & Competencies:

  • Proven track record in securing grants from international donors (e.g., USAID, EU, UN agencies, World Bank, etc.).
  • Excellent proposal writing and grant management skills.
  • Strong network of donors, funders, and development partners.
