Job Descriptions:

Job Summary: The Fundraising Officer will work under the supervision of the Fundraising Manager in MHCO's country office in Kabul, Afghanistan. The Fundraising Officer, will be responsible for developing and implementing fundraising strategies to secure financial support for MHCO’s programmes and initiatives. Fundraising Officer will work closely with all deportments, and other stakeholders to cultivate relationships with donors, organize fundraising events, and explore innovative fundraising opportunities. This role is pivotal in ensuring the sustainability and growth of MHCO's mission.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Research and identify potential funding sources including individuals, corporations, INGOs, foundations, and government grants.
  • Develop comprehensive fundraising strategies, concept notes, proposals, and applications tailored to different donor segments and funding opportunities.
  • Cultivate relationships with existing and prospective donors through personalized networking, partnering, communications, meetings, and events.
  • Maintain regular communication with donors to keep them engaged and informed about the organization's activities and impact.
  • Develop and implement online fundraising campaigns leveraging social media, email marketing, and crowdfunding platforms.
  • Research grant opportunities and prepare grant proposals in collaboration with program staff.
  • Ensure timely submission of grant proposals and reports, adhering to the requirements of funding organizations.
  • Maintain accurate records of grant applications, awards, and reporting deadlines.
  • Work closely with the finance team to develop and monitor fundraising budgets, ensuring alignment with organizational goals and priorities.
  • Stay updated on emerging trends and best practices in fundraising, philanthropy, and donor engagement.
  • Participate in professional development opportunities such as workshops, conferences, and networking events to enhance fundraising skills and knowledge.

Proposal Writing Duties:

    • Write and develop high-quality project proposals, ensuring alignment with donor requirements and organizational priorities.
    • Review and edit proposals to ensure clarity, coherence, and a compelling narrative.
    • Collaborate with program staff to gather necessary information for proposal development.
    • Develop budgets for proposals in coordination with the finance team.
    • Conduct needs assessments and gather data to support proposal development.
    • Ensure timely submission of proposals and follow up with donors as needed.

Job Requirements:

  • Bachelor/ Master's degree in management, business administration, or another equivalent field.
  • 5 years experience in fundraising, donor relations, or sales, preferably in a nonprofit or NGO setting.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with diverse stakeholders.
  • Excellent writing skills with experience in grant writing, proposal development, and donor communications.
  • Strategic thinking and problem-solving abilities, with a results-oriented approach to fundraising.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office suite and fundraising software/tools.
  • Proven skills and abilities in grant proposal writing for potential donors such as UN agencies and INGOs.
