The Norwegian Afghanistan Committee (NAC) is a member-based solidarity organization that has been working in support and solidarity with the Afghan people for more than 35 years. The Norwegian Afghanistan Committee (NAC) has a zero tolerance of sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment (SEAH) both within the organization and of beneficiaries. Prevention of and protection from sexual exploitation, abuse, and harassment (PSEAH) is the individual and collective responsibility of all NAC officers, management, staff, consultants, and volunteers, who are all required to familiarize themselves with, agree to, and act in accordance with NAC’s Ethical Guidelines and Commitment, NAC Child Protection Policy, and NAC PSEAH Policy, at all times – both during and outside working hours – and participate actively in introductory and refresher trainings. Major Duties and Responsibilities
Supervisory Tasks
To overall supervise relevant field staff (CBRWs & SETs)
To oversee and guide the implementation of special education daily activities in the field.
To monitor/supervise, support and advise the Field staff, CBR-workers and Special Education Teachers within the covered villages/area.
Technical Tasks
To assess training needs of SET and CBRWs and based on that conduct special education training.
Collect, design, produce and update appropriate special education training materials for all categories of trainees, however in coordination with Special Education Officer.
Provide technical support and on-job training to Special Education Teachers and CBR Workers in the field.
Select appropriate and useful methods of training at different levels.
Compile and keep a copy of all training material, plans, schedules prepared and conducted within the field and provide the Special Education Officer with accurate and up-to-date information in this regard monthly.
Work to ensure that the Program incorporates M&E results and lessons learnt from field operations to improve and develop Program implementation strategies, methodologies, and results.
Collect and disseminate good practice regarding special education on a local, national and international level
Follow up special educational activities in the field and provide support to the Special Education Officer and CBR Workers.
Frequently monitor the special education activities in the field, at least 50% of the time should be in the field.
Implement training action plan in the field on a monthly or quarterly basis according to the special education work plan.
Collect special education data from field and submit to Special Education officer for recording in DP database.
To do need assessment of field staff in terms of various training required in special education.
To collect technical reports and from the field.
To assist Special Education Officer in the preparation of work plan, budget, and reports.
To work in close collaboration and coordination with other NAC/Disability Project staff for effective and efficient rehabilitating Person with Disabilities.
Financial Tasks
To assist the Special Education Officer in the budget preparations, follow up revisions and to secure accountable practices according to financial regulations.
Training Tasks
Arrange and conduct special training for Special Education Teachers, and CBR Workers.
To transfer his/her knowledge and experience to the relevant colleagues through on-the-job training and other forms of training.
To collect requests and suggestions of the section’s personnel regarding refresher training courses on different topics and submit them to Special Education Officer
Tasks of inter organizational relations
To participate actively in workshops, seminars & conference organized by the NAC management
Promotes good coordination with other NAC projects, all RMOs units and other units/departments at provinces and KCO.
Language requirements, if any
Fluency Dari and Pashto, both written and spoken. Familiarity with English language can be an advantage.
Qualifications Required
Bachelor’s degree in literature, Inclusive Education, inclusive development or equivalent in the related field.
Work Experience
3-4 years of word experience, especially within an NGO, or similar organizations. Relevant work experience will be preferred.
Experience in provision of training and field Monitoring.
Skills
Computer skill at operator level, especially with MS Office packages.
Interpersonal and communication skills
Skills in social mobilization
Team worker, analytical, and troubleshooting skills
