Job Descriptions:

The Physiotherapist & Basic Nursing Support will work under the supervision of the School Principal and be responsible for coordination and oversight of all Physiotherapy and basic nursing support matters, including Prepare weekly, monthly, and yearly therapy plans for students, Assess students’ physical abilities, movement challenges, and muscle strength.

Responsibilities include:

Planning & Management:

  • Prepare weekly, monthly, and yearly therapy plans for students.
  • Conduct individual and group physiotherapy sessions as per students' needs.

Physiotherapy Responsibilities:

  • Assess students’ physical abilities, movement challenges, and muscle strength.
  • Identify barriers affecting mobility and learning.
  • Develop individual therapy plans to improve students' movement and independence.
  • Conduct regular physiotherapy exercises to improve strength, flexibility, and balance.
  • Use therapy tools like walkers, exercise balls, and resistance bands.
  • Track students' progress and update therapy plans as needed.
  • Teach parents simple exercises to continue therapy at home.
  • Provide easy-to-follow instructions for safe movements and exercises.
  • Offer ongoing support and feedback to ensure home therapy is effective.

Health & Medication Management (ECI Care Home):

  • Act as the main health focal point for children with severe disabilities.
  • Manage medicine distribution, record-keeping, and prescriptions.
  • Monitor blood pressure, fever, and other basic health signs.
  • Provide first aid, wound dressing, and care for minor illnesses.
  • Consult neurologists and specialists for children with complex medical needs.
  • Train staff and caregivers on medication use, hygiene, and emergency care.
  • Ensure a clean and safe health environment for children.

Student & Family Support:

  • Counsel families on their child’s progress and therapy needs.
  • Educate parents on exercises and daily activities that help recovery.
  • Guide families on how to create a supportive home environment.

Referral & Coordination:

  • Refer students to ICRC, KOO, or other medical centers for specialized care.
  • Work with other departments to provide full support for students.

Monitoring & Supervision:

  • Supervise physiotherapy assistants and ensure quality therapy sessions.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and therapy sessions.
  • Share reports with school staff for better coordination.

Other Duties:

  • Perform additional tasks as assigned by the school management.
  • Improve therapy programs to better serve students.

 

Job Requirements:

Education & Experience:

    • Degree or diploma in Physiotherapy, Rehabilitation, or Nursing.
    • 1–2 years of experience in physiotherapy or nursing, preferably with children with disabilities.
    • Experience in therapy planning, treatment, and basic medical care.

Skills & Knowledge:

    • Strong physiotherapy and rehabilitation skills.
    • Knowledge of basic nursing, wound care, and medication management.
    • Ability to use physiotherapy tools like walkers, therapy balls, and resistance bands.
    • Experience in training parents on home exercises.
    • Familiarity with referring patients for specialized care.

Personal Skills:

    • Caring and patient when working with children.
    • Good teamwork and communication skills.
    • Ability to handle emergencies and provide first aid.
    • Strong record-keeping and reporting skills.
    • Keeps the therapy area clean and safe.
