About ANAFAE:

The Afghan National Association For Adult Education (ANAFAE), founded in September 2005, with the support of DVV International works to foster the development of local Adult and Community Learning Centers, promotes education strategies and programs for disadvantaged groups, young adults, with a particular focus on literacy, basic education, education for employability and lifelong learning.

As part of its mission to address unemployment and enhance self-reliance through entrepreneurship, ANAFAE is implementing the (New Pathways to Improving Vocational Skills in Afghanistan) project. This project, launched in November 2023, focuses on supporting marginalized youths with practical skills and entrepreneurial training to promote income generation and self-employment.

In this context, ANAFAE seeks to engage Technical Field Experts / Mentors who will work closely with small business groups to enhance technical proficiency, improve product quality, and align production with market standards. These experts will serve as mentors, trainers, and technical advisors in their respective trades to ensure long-term business sustainability and growth.

Job Descriptions:

The objective of the Technical Field Expert / Mentor is to provide ongoing, trade-specific technical assistance to group businesses formed through the project. This includes improving the quality of products, technical efficiency, and the capacity for innovation and adaptation in production processes.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Mentorship and Support:
    • Deliver customized technical guidance to group businesses based on their specific trade (Mobile repairing).
    • Mentor groups on improving production quality, expertise, and consistency in their work.
  • Field Visits and Practical Coaching:
    • Conduct regular daily field visits to each group and provide hands-on mentoring at their workplace or production site.
    • Observe day-to-day operations and provide technical troubleshooting, feedback, and actionable recommendations.
  • Product Innovation and Equipment Use:
    • Evaluate the utilization of equipment and tools, and train group members on optimal usage techniques.
    • Introduce new product designs, production techniques, or material innovations to enhance competitiveness.
  • Mini-Trainings and Knowledge Transfer:
    • Facilitate short training sessions on technical topics such as quality assurance, inventory control, safety procedures, product finishing, and production planning.
    • Promote efficient workflows and effective resource management practices.
  • Collaboration with Project Team:
    • Work in close coordination with Business Development Coaches to ensure that technical mentoring aligns with the group’s business goals and market plans.
    • Participate in joint planning and feedback sessions to ensure comprehensive group support.
  • Reporting and Recommendations:
    • Prepare and submit monthly mentoring reports that document group progress, challenges encountered, and improvements made.
    • Recommend practical steps for capacity building and suggest required tools, resources, or training interventions.

Job Requirements:

  • Education and Certification:
    • Diploma, certificate, or formal technical training in a relevant trade (Mobile Repair).
  • Professional Experience:
    • Minimum 3 years of experience in the relevant technical field.
    • At least 2 years of experience in mentoring, coaching, or technical training.
  • Skills and Competencies:
    • In-depth understanding of local product standards, consumer preferences, and market expectations.
    • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to identify and address practical production issues.
    • Effective communication and interpersonal skills, especially in working with women and youth in rural or semi-urban areas.
    • Ability to work independently and collaboratively with multi-disciplinary teams.
  • Language:
    • Fluency in local languages (Dari and/or Pashto) is essential.
    • Willingness to travel frequently within assigned project sites.
