About ACDO:

Asia Community Development Organization (ACDO) is an Afghan non-governmental, non-political and non-profit humanitarian organization founded in 2014 register with the Government of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan (GoIRA) under the supervision of the Ministry of Economy (MoEc) with a mission to provide humanitarian and development assistance to the vulnerable, at-risk and underserved people throughout the country.

ACDO responds to the needs of disadvantaged and marginalized rural and urban communities by managing and utilizing the available scars resources in a well, efficient, transparent and dignified manner to enhance resilience, boost access to education, ensure food and livelihood security, and promote social protection and inclusion.

ACDO has active presence at least in nine provinces in five regions of the country and intends to expand its operations to the remaining provinces as well with the aim to transform itself into a leading and developed organization which will deliver to and support significant number of people who had been affected by the long protracted and sudden on-set emergencies in Afghanistan. Regardless of the hardest circumstances that existed in Afghanistan in 2022 and 2021, ACDO has managed to deliver humanitarian and development assistance in Nangrahar, Herat, Balkh, Kabul, Kandahar, Bamyan, Wardak, Jawzjan, Paktia, Kunduz, Takhar, Laghman, Daykundi and Farah provinces.

Job Descriptions:

  • Maintain a safe environment for the counseling, individually or in a group.
  • Identification of the most vulnerable and affected individuals in internally displaced and host communities.
  • Regular and proper registration of all clients and documentation of all data according to standard reporting tools and formats.
  • Collection of success stories from the field and beneficiaries of the project.
  • Provide Mental Health Case Management Services.
  • Provide individual and group psychosocial support services.
  • Help people cope better and enhance their resilience in their everyday lives.
  • Help beneficiaries resume their normal lives and mental well-being.
  • Meet community-identified mental health needs through comprehensive Mental Health Case Management.
  • Provide parenting skills training and psychoeducation sessions.
  • Support and follow-up of the referred cases.
  • Mental health case recording and documentation.
  • Conduct project orientation related to MHPSS for the project staff, SMS, Parents and in case of need to the teachers and beneficiaries.
  • Provide required treatment, specific dignity kits, including offering volunteer referral services.  
  • Keep special focus on referral data/records confidential and limited to official use only.
  • Report and share any unexpected issues or security-related issues immediately to the line manager or the project office.
  • Work with local communities to help them identify and refer vulnerable and shock-affected individuals from returnees, the host community, and IDPs.
  • Advocate for local community support for minimizing further harm to the vulnerable population via awareness raising and health education.
  • Prepare and submit daily consultation, referral, and dignity kits distribution-related reports to the team leader/in-charge.
  • Ensure active participation in local community mobilization activities in consultation with the team leader and trainers.
  • Maintain close working coordination within the health facility for internal referrals of people with mental problems and GBV victims.
  • Active engagement to mitigate risks through awareness, reporting, and policy enforcement. 
  • Must uphold ethical standards, following codes of conduct to prevent abuse, including sexual harassment, exploitation, and neglect.
  • Any other related task as assigned by the Provincial Coordinator, District Coordinator, Project Manager and/or Senior Management Team (SMT).

Job Requirements:

  • Education:
  • Health Diploma or Midwifery acceptable. Preference will be given to Bachelor of Psychology, Social Science, Health/Medical (Nurse/Midwifery) acceptable with expiring in the humanitarian field experience
  • Experience:
  • The Candidate must have at least three years of previous experience in the provision of psychosocial counseling services or a similar working context.
  • More than two years of relevant work experience in a similar context of project with the same scope of work such as clinical psychology, is preferred. 

Skills:

  • Strong oral and written communication skills in Pashto and Dari, English skills will be an asset.
  • Knowledge of the community structure, dynamics, and development.
  • At least 3 years’ relevant experience in the implementation of similar projects in a humanitarian/recovery context.
  • Knowledge of the value of PSS in child development and the current trends of psychology in Afghanistan.
  • Ability to cope well under pressure, work irregular hours, and meet tight deadlines.
  • Sound organizational skills and ability to prioritize and deliver assignments promptly, often under severe time pressures.
  • Experience in needs assessment, project monitoring & evaluation, and program development
  • Good knowledge and experience in the Afghanistan system/context, child protection (CP) and child safeguarding.
  • Experience in coordination with government authorities, communities, donors, and beneficiaries.
