Project/ Health Program Background:
PUI and IMC will jointly implement the project for 12 months aimed at addressing the needs of the most vulnerable populations in the Eastern, Southeastern, and Central regions of Afghanistan. The action aims to provide integrated Health including SRH, Nutrition, MHPSS, WASH services with a crisis modifier component that can be triggered for rapid onset disasters, in particular scenarios i.e., epidemics, natural disasters, violence leading to displacements and returnees. The intervention will focus on supporting communities in underserved and hard-to-reach areas, specifically in provinces such as Kabul, Paktia, Paktika, Ghazni, Nangarhar, Kunar, Laghman and Parwan. Through a joint approach, the project will expand its geographical coverage, ensuring that the underserved population benefit from humanitarian assistance. Intervention will include:
Through this joint approach, PUI and IMC will focus on reducing the mortality, morbidity, and vulnerability of conflict- and disaster-affected populations, aiming to reach433,185 unique beneficiaries. Intervention will focus on providing life-saving services to vulnerable populations, including women, girls, and pregnant and lactating women, in remote areas through safe, dignified and inclusive programming.
Job Purpose:
Job Summary: The Medical Coordinator is providing strategic and technical support to the identification, design, implementation, and management of the health program in Afghanistan. The Medical Coordinator will work in collaboration with the Country Director, Deputy Country Director/ program, senior management team, and health teams in the field to deliver high-quality health services to the targeted beneficiaries. The Medical Coordinator will make frequent visits to the field sites to ensure the highest standards of delivery. S/he will be budget holder and responsible for budget management and pipeline preparation monthly. Update monthly budget pipeline, procurement plan and complete the necessary logistical and administrative processes for project activities. S/he ensure high-quality clinical services in all IMC-supported health facilities. S/he will monitor service quality, ensure that all staff are trained and well-supported, pharmaceuticals and other medical supplies are properly managed. The Medical Coordinator will represent IMC in the national Health coordination meetings, Health Forum, and other technical working groups.
